No, Jimmy Carter, yes, the much maligned Jimmy Carter's attempt at an even handed approach to human rights helped create a moral basis for Ronald (the right-wing dictator's friend) Reagan's efforts and the fall of the Soviet empire. "Tear down this wall" would have sounded over the top hypocritical and meant nothing were it not for the relative consistency of Carter's message that preceded it. I met dissidents from the Soviet bloc delighted with Carter's more or less evenhanded sophisticated approach, as much as they liked Reagan's fiery tho simplistic rhetoric.

We can cheer Reagan's strong stand against the Soviets abuses, but recognize the tens of thousands of corpses in Latin America he ignored.

There are two classes of Government Employees: Bureaucrats and Workers.

The Bureaucrats are about 80% of the total. Usually they are Desk Jockeys/Managers/Politicians with jobs that produce no tangible results. They are almost 100% Leftist and they are the Deep State. There is no one these people hate more than a Donald Trump who wants to reduce their power.

The other 20% are usually the Cops, Firefighters, Solders and Skilled Maintenance. I have been a part of this class most of my adult life. We are more Right Wing Libertarian/Conservative than average because we see first hand how corrupt and flat out evil the Deep State is.

There is no deep state just republicans in charge that can't govern. Keep making excuses all you want republicans are in charge and can prevent all of that if they wish. They are just too incompetent.

If Jimmy Carter had been reelected the USSR would most likely still exist, or at least it would have lasted a lot longer than it did.

GOP incompetent? What have you been under a rock the last 8 years?

The problem with the current GOP is there are a good portion of them who are also Deep State and hate Trump as much as Dems. Just like they hated Reagan at first.

But with his own policies and repealing Obama executive orders Trump is creating a great economy even faster than Reagan did (best in 10 years right now).

The Russian thing is about distracting Americans from his success, but people are bored with it.

Like Reagan Trump will soon take over the GOP.

Liberty
Low taxation
Secure borders
Personal responsibility
Rule of law (vs. 2-tier justice system)
Strong military...

...but they sure find a lot of ways to show their dislike.

And Obama showed us what happens when one of these Disneyland inspired dimwits gets the reigns of power. If he'd have been in a Miss America pageant, one of his pat lines would have been "world peace".
