A longtime associate of President Trump’s family, who organized golf tournaments on the president’s courses and planned his son Eric’s wedding, will soon oversee billions of federal dollars as the head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s New York and New Jersey office.

Lynne Patton had been working as a senior adviser and director of public engagement at HUD for several months before Ben Carson, the department secretary, recommended her for the new role, a person close to Mr. Carson said. Before that, Ms. Patton had no experience in housing policy.

Nonetheless, the appointment of Ms. Patton elicited incredulous responses in New York.

“Like many things in the Trump universe, we’re dealing with things we’ve never seen before,” Mayor Bill de Blasio, who held the same post during the Clinton administration, said in a weekly radio interview on WNYC. “Folks in that role historically have had substantial background in government or in housing.”

He did say he would only hire the best people. Maybe she's like really good at wedding planning. Like Amazing, you wouldn't believe it. He never specified what they would be the best at...

I'm sure she is. Maybe she could plan a wedding between Democrats and Republicans, lol.

I'm sure some GOPs will cheer this appointment, because they are scared of government bureaucrats taking over the world. But, I go back to what I believe is a keen observation: People who don't believe in government to begin with should not be running the government.

It's my view that Trump paid lip service to 'draining the swamp' and has failed to make real outsider replacements. Trump has made... 5 Goldman Sachs appointments. His cabinet consists of longtime GOP mega donor, Betsy DeVos, Former GOP Govenor, Rick Snyder, GOP Senator Jeff Sessions, Reince Priebus. all of these people were Adelson or Koch approved picks. The establishment is right at home with a Trump administration. Someone here drolly observed, that Trump merely restocked the swamp. Besides, the swamp to me, is all the congress. Trump can't just fire congress and get fresh, new faces in.

Finally! Someone with organizational skills beyond rabble rousing.

Nice one.

Grim proving ground for Obama's housing policy - The Boston Globe

CHICAGO - The squat brick buildings of Grove Parc Plaza, in a dense neighborhood that Barack Obama represented for eight years as a state senator, hold 504 apartments subsidized by the federal government for people who can't afford to live anywhere else.

But it's not safe to live here.

About 99 of the units are vacant, many rendered uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage. Mice scamper through the halls. Battered mailboxes hang open. Sewage backs up into kitchen sinks. In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale - a score so bad the buildings now face demolition.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to plan a wedding or a charity or golf tournament or for that matter housing. Or maybe it does. It seems.
