MIAMI — President Donald Trump has demanded that Cuba return a woman convicted in the murder of a New Jersey state trooper.

Trump made the demand for the return of Joanne Chesimard while announcing changes to Obama-era Cuba policy in Miami Friday.

I do not think Obama hates cops.But demanding that convicted murderer be returned to the US should have been a precondition for any change of Cuba's status.

Obama said he wanted to fundamentally transform this nation. Making the U.S. more closely aligned with impoverished Cuba an ignoring cop murderers is exactly in line with that.

Without a Coup or Revolution in Cuba, I highly doubt the Cuban government ever voluntarily turns over Assata Shakur, a.k.a. Joanne Chesimard.

She did not directly kill a Law Enforcement Officer. After her brother orchestrated her escape from prison, she managed to live as a fugitive in the U.S. for several years before successfully moving to Cuba. All of this implies she had numerous supporters helping her evade capture.

I have read countless pages of her life story. Reducing her story to Black and White, Open and Shut, as an evil cop killer who evaded justice with the help of the Castro regime paints a false narrative.
