Long List of Right Wing terrorism

You're right, of course, but we're talking about the here & now and what motivated this particular shooter.
Using the "I know you are but what am I" excuse in this instance is entirely to avoid admitting the atmosphere that has been created since the election, who created it, and what influence it had on the shooter given what his Facebook and Twitter accounts looked like.

It's everyone and everything...nothing happens in a bubble, and given the rhetoric from both sides, no one is even close to being able to say "not me". The only way to be able to do that with any credibility at all is to slam the brakes on the partisan stuff as quickly as possible, and stay that way regardless of provocation, until everyone has a minute to pull their heads out of their ass and catch their breath. It's not going to change overnight, and it's not going to change all at once. Someone's gotta blink first, someone's gotta say "Ah, **** it, I know I'm right, but it's more important for everyone to calm down, so I'll sit on it for a bit and let things heal".

And most importantly, we need to push back on the people at the head of the division, specifically the media, the government, and the partisan fringes, from both the Left and the Right on all three. So far no one has died yet, but if anyone does because of this partisan nonsense, these three groups have blood on their hands. I don't want any on mine, so I'm for putting it aside and working together, regardless of what came before. This week should have been a wake up call for everyone.

That would be okay if it hadn't already been factored into partisan strategy.
No, I wish it could be possible but what got us to this point doesn't permit it.

Sooo...should we just start shooting now then, get it out of the way?

and you guys let a leninist into the white house, such incompetence.

Trump the Leninist that's a new one. Please explain.

(I await your unpunctuated, single phrase that attacks me rather than answers the question)

Didn't say it was Trump you silly goose it's actually Bannon

How about starting to get the kumbaya ball rolling this way ...

An elected individual in a position of authority makes a statement acknowledging that speaking for themselves and their Party they were carried away by politics and decided to pursue a scorched earth policy to achieve their goals.
They can say that they should have limited the strategy to Legislative resistance to policies proposed by the opposition.
But instead, they say their strategy was to influence public perception as much as possible by claiming the opposition didn't care if old people or children died.
They should say their strategy included comparing their opposition to universally known murderous dictators & authoritarians by satisfying Godwin's Law with no delay.
In other words ... demonization.
They need to indicate that in order for their strategy to work most effectively they enlisted the media, entertainment, and education establishments for support and participation.
They should say that they knew there might be a risk but since they themselves knew that what they were saying was total bullsh*t they assumed most people would realize it too because they've always done it, although not to this degree or intensity.
They can say they didn't anticipate there might be some supporters who actually believed it and took it seriously enough to act on it but they can't be blamed despite the many references to their strategy details on any miscreant's social accounts.

How's that for a good start?
The opposition could then respond by saying they will continue to not execute any such strategy.
Then we're off to a new world of politics.

Honestly, man, that's more finger pointing... I'm not saying you're wrong, but if you're saying that in order to "get the kumbaya ball rolling", Democrats must come to the table with tail between legs while Republicans sit back and nod and smile, that's just more partisan rhetoric. Trump was just as divisive, if not more, and made no bones about it, so why you're leaving the Republicans out of the solution I'm not sure...well, I mean, I am sure, they're your side, and it's just more of the same partisan push back. But if you were serious about wanting to restore unity, you'd know that you only have half a solution here.

But my point is, both sides need to own their part in all of this and move forward. I'm not sure you'll ever reach a consensus on the accounting of who did what, it will just end in more polarization, so it's a pointless exercise. The immediate need is to put the brakes on the rhetoric going forward, and stop participating in division.

My fear is that you'll never get this level of cooperation in government without a joint citizenry demanding it. Right now they benefit from this division, as do the media, so why would they ever stop? At some point the American people need to take their country back, and it's not going to happen while people continue to point fingers. It's just not. I forget exactly the number, but I believe the women's protest of Trump's presidency drew around 2.5 million people from the Left. How about a 5 million person protest, consisting of both sides, to send a clear message to the government that you guys are not pawns of their political games?

I know what your point is and believe me, I understand where you're coming from.
But you did recognize that what I said was accurate and I never identified the Party.
The fact is that what the group had been saying drove the shooter to do what he did and it wasn't the Republicans in this instance.
What should the Republicans say, "We didn't do it and we'll continue to not do it again"?
I don't think it's the least bit pointless to point that out.
Especially when the group who had been saying it now uses the "can't we all get along" line to try to inoculate themselves without any recognition of the role they had been playing.
You can't even get half a solution under those circumstances.
So yes, some tail between the legs is in order ... politically painful as that may be.
I'm sorry, but the balance sheet on this one is way out of whack.

I'd say the same thing regardless of the responsible Party or person.

There it is; that, right there, that's at the core of the dysfunction in this society, us. All of us contributed in some way, but we’d rather blame someone else, and we’re encouraged to, old tactic for distracting the masses when things get tight, can’t have them gazing up the food chain and discovering the redistribution scheme. We all allowed this disconnect to occur. There’s no connectedness in society, just snarling, because we’re in a place where we’ve been told we have no power, and inside their system, we don’t. It’s a mining process of the spirit, the human spirit, to run the machines that extract the wealth. It’s nothing new at all, just a repackaging of the same types of systems that humanity has evolved away from before, complete with global military omnipotence, economically controlled access to healthcare in the hands of the aristocracy, a jobs market that borders on sharecropping in some sectors with chains like Walmart pushing employees toward public assistance, endless war machine occupations of foreign lands that trigger stock surges, and arms merchant enterprise that foments violence across the planet for profit, and a return to profiting from bondage in for profit prisons with stocks traded on Wall Street and convict leasing.

Ours is not a healthy society. And the power structure is counting on us remaining that way. Your vote will not be enough. Not now. We tried that. The substantial people have two parties from which to choose. The people have none. Goldman Sachs is always in your white house regardless. I do wonder if this system will last another 100 years. Maybe. But eventually humanity will evolve on to something else; this is unsustainable in terms of a human evolutionary scale. Just as humanity evolved away from feudalism, so will it evolve away from this twisted version of “capitalism”, and really, from capitalism of any kind, which by the way has always subsidized some, any big time sports team owner with a nice shiny stadium knows. It was always rigged. Some of that can be tolerated by a society.

But neither capitalism nor empire can ever be content or satisfied, even the Athenian democracy/empire went tits up, expansion to infinity, profit margin growth to infinity. And no, that is not the nature of the human spirit, but the power structure needs you to organize yourself around that thought. It is true however that it will always be the nature of some humans who must be kept in check. Might be better to look at the arc of humankind than the arc of America, not long enough.

Say what ya want, it won’t work forever, this expansion. So maybe you think nothing’s going on with the planet and never could, ever. Ok, thanks for your time, take care. Or maybe you think, meh, I’ll be gone. Which brings us back to connectedness. To your descendants. But that’s kinda tough in a society that doesn’t know its ancestors past a couple-300years and lacks that spiritual connection.
