Paywall and Sorrily the wp is no longer a paper I'm willing to pay for. Too biased.
WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is leaving in place a program protecting hundreds of thousands young immigrants from deportation — one that President Donald Trump had pledged to eliminate.
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly quietly announced the decision at the bottom of a fact sheet released late Thursday declaring the end to a similar, but never-implemented program intended to shield immigrant parents of U.S. citizens and legal residents from deportation.
As a candidate, Trump pledged to “immediately terminate President Obama’s two illegal executive amnesties.” Yet as president, he repeatedly expressed empathy with the young participants in the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. Many participants, often referred to as “dreamers,” arrived in the United States as small children and have little recollection of their birth countries. The program was launched in 2012 and has protected about 787,000 young immigrants from deportation.
Someone probably explained to him that the USSC would probably not us to shove unaccompanied minors across the border.
Nah. It's much simpler than that.
He's a pathologically dishonest backsliding con man.
You mean he's like his predecessor?
No, nothing even remotely like his predecessor, but I do understand your need to try and make a false equivalency like that, given your guy Trump crashing and burning at his own hand.
Give him time.
You mean obama was worse? I would have said they might have been as equally bad for the nation at the end of trump's term, but they are certainly different in the way they wreck their damage. So "equivalency" is only in the degree of damage Trump might yet do. Obama's is not yet totally quantifiable, but enough is known to know he was almost as bad as Clinton.
Finally, Trump does something right.
I don't think it will change his overall policy much, but still, this is a positive step.

No, I don't mean that. Pity reality is eluding you to such a comical degree.
I think that as time passes, we are going to see more of Trump's true "DEMOCRAT colors" start to surface.
not a relevant comment
A pity you would use biased sources. A few years back it would have been fine. But they are not at this time solid enough to support with a subscription.
This post is another attempted at irrelevance
