As an assassination attempt survivor, former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) knows a thing or two about gun violence. In 2011, the congresswoman was shot in the head during a campaign event in Arizona.

On Wednesday, she reacted to the news of a shooting at a congressional baseball practice with deep sympathy for those affected. She also expressed appreciation for the Capitol Police, whose quick response undoubtedly stopped a tragic situation from becoming worse: My heart is with my former colleagues, their families & staff, and the US Capitol Police- public servants and heroes today and every day.

I wonder if the same people claiming Rachel Maddow and (lol) the cast of freakin' Hamilton made this nutbar go postal were just as concerned over right-wing rhetoric before the Oklahoma City bombing, for example, or anti-Muslim rhetoric from right-wing media and politicians prior to the Portland stabbings. My guess is no.

But your point is? Not only congressman, but immigrants were abused by jerks who claimed Trump as inspiration. The issue here is that a major candidate for the presidency, who got elected, made bigoted comments and false claims about various groups: refugees, blacks, Mexicans, immigrants, Muslims, and women. That type of stuff from a leader with some responsibility, coming from the left right or center inspires jerks to commit violence, and it has in Trump's case.

As to Gabby Gifford, she was shot along with others by a guy who espoused far right views, tho to be fair, he was crazy and had liberal views early on.

It's already been proven Loughtner was not a gop'er/conservative. If anything, according to classmates, he championed leftist causes and was obviously a nutburger. Nice try.

What difference does it make? The way I read it he had flirted with both extremes. That was one example. The was another of some young punks beating up an immigrant and quoting Trump, plus other incidents his rhetoric was associated with by the perpetrators.
