They identified themselves as Chaldean on the T.V. report. Which I've mentioned already, but you failed miserably at basic reading. I didn't 'dredge up' the group. In Southeast Michigan we have many who identify as Chaldean. During the Flint water crisis, one of the doctors who first reported it (May have been the first one actually) labeled herself as Chaldean.
Good for them to honor their ancestry. Heritage is important to many people. Individuals still identify themselves as their Native American tribes despite those countries having been assimilated or reduced to the size of a county or two. If you head to the Yucatan, you will find many who identify themselves as Mayan. People can identify with their cultural heritage. Whether it is right for them to do so can be debated, but you being so bent out of shape I called them what they identified as is nonsensical.
