Can a Muslim be a good American?

The 'March Against Sharia' Protests Are Really Marches Against Muslims | HuffPost
According to the above article, the leader of ACT, an anti-Muslim organizations says no. This is the group that called for the Anti-Sharia marches across the nation and is generally made up of white suprematist and anti-government groups. The reason I worry about this is that I am a Catholic and when I was young these are the same tings they said about Catholics. That we could never be good Americans because we obeyed the Pope in Rome rather than the American government. They also said we weren't real Christians. I see this Sharia Law crap as just an excuse for hating someone with a different religious view. I guess after these so called Christians finish with the Muslims, they will go after Jews and Catholics next. It is always good to have someone to hate.
 
Of course a Muslim can be a good American. There are plenty of Muslims that are good Americans. Saying otherwise is dumb.
 
It's not so long ago that JFK's loyalty was questioned because he was a Roman Catholic "Whose first allegiance is to the Pope"! It's a nonsense.

Can a woman be a good American?

To answer the question sure, but I think they'd have to be a fairly liberal Muslim and I've know a couple.

I mean, I think we can all agree that there are certain Americans who are bad; rapists, murders, thieves, scumbags, people who wear socks and sandals, cheaters, and the like.


But when we start defining "goodness" by ideology, faith, race, creed or ethnicity, we're asking for trouble.

Immutable- Race and ethnicity

Mutable- ideology, faith, creed

There are many, many mutable things are objectively bad by Western standards.

It's hard to argue against the idea.

Sharia Law and our Constitution are not compatible

So for a Muslim to be a good Sharia Law Muslim means he CAN NOT be a good American!

When Muslim's expect that Sharia law be observed, displacing the existing laws, that's a problem. The US laws precede any others in the US.

When Muslim's expect schools to teach Islam, that's clearly a violation of the separation of church and state.

When Muslim's expect publicly funded prayer room in public venues, be it schools or airports or whatever, that's a problem.

Muslim's should be allowed to practice their religion, fine, but they shouldn't expect their new country to bend to their will, to accommodate them or their beliefs beyond what the accommodation that everyone else expects.
