Intelligence Officials Testify in Senate Hearing -- Live Coverage

Four people whose salaries we pay refused to answer questions given to them by the very oversight committee of Congress they are supposed to report to. So should those four men be held in contempt of Congress and jailed until they give the answers to the questions asked? They even admitted that they had no legal reason for their failure to answer. Is this how Trump and his lawyer are going to handle all future questions asked by Congress's oversight committees, just refuse to answer without any legal reason for doing so and then just trust the GOP controlled committees to just let it go without any action being taken? I hope not!!!

They were being asked questions that they never should have answered and could not possibly have answered factually.

Think of it this way, if you and I had a private conversation over dinner and I vocalized that it would sure be nice if you stopped parking in my space how would you truthfully answer a question such as "Did Luther ask you to stop parking in his space?"

YES - they should be held in contempt as they had no legal basis for stonewalling like they did. They disgraced themselves, their positions and deserve the full punishment that can be given to them for this public insubordination basically giving the middle finger to both Congress and the American people.

The fact is there isn't any legal compulsion to make them answer. the Senate can subpoena them to appear but cant force them to answer. On the other hand the special counsel does have prosecutory powers. If I was someones lawyer, their lawyer, just out of common legal advice practice I would advise them to not answer as well.
And the contempt of congress just goes back to the justice department btw, one of which is one of the people you are talking about. even if you did find them in contempt its a maximum 1000$ fine, even for criminal contempt of congress. and it has to go before a grand jury to determine that.

So when they were asked if the president had ever asked them to intervene for him with Comey, they could not have said just a yes or no? I mean how could they not answer factually? What you rote just doesn't make sense.

They obviously did not take their oaths seriously, independentusa. Are they working for us or 45/45's cronies/45's business interests/Russia's interests?

Actually they have been sworn in and can be compelled to answer. Their only out should be the 5th Amendment They can be held in contempt of Congress.

Assuming that you were my boss, then the truthful answer would be yes

"Nice parking space. Shame if something happened to it."

They didn't answer truthfully because they couldn't.

Regardless of political affiliation, anything that involves giving the middle finger to Congress is good.

If those were your words, I would say "Lutherf said "it sure would be nice if you stopped parking in my space." I understood that to be a somewhat indirect request to stop parking in his space."

To answer the thread:

Hell, yes. They should be compelled to answer. They work for us. They owe us answers. Their claiming that the information should be confidential is a load of B.S.

That said, we, the American Public, have been putting up with bigger and bigger portions of B.S. from government officials since roughly the late 1950's, so this is nothing new.

I see. They didn't say, what you wanted them to say. I'm sorry to hear your misery.

yes - if one is an anarchist trying to destroy any credibility of government.
