Maybe His Base is Crumbling?

The poor man. All he is doing is keeping promises and acting pretty much the way one would have expected.

Repeal Obamacare ✓

Build Wall ✓

Cut Taxes ✓

538 still has Trump at around 39% and holding.

I don't think support is weakening much yet. Most of the informed supporters are partisans, and most of the uninformed supporters either don't know or don't care about what he's done. It's also too soon for his policies (such as they are) to have any actual impact yet.

I think that if he gets away with things like slashing Medicaid, then his numbers will start to hurt.

Repeal Obamacare ✓

Build Wall ✓

Cut Taxes ✓

Some things take a little time. I don't think many people but his enemies would worry about that. From the surveys it looks like this might be borne out.

I don't think it is Trump's base that is crumbling. I doubt that will ever happen. All one has to do is look back at Richard Nixon. Even on the day he resigned from office, 25% of the nation still had a favorable view of him which included 50% of all Republicans. Nixon retained his base of support, the die hard Nixon supporters.

I think it is mostly among independents that support for Trump is eroding. Not his base. Back at the end of January 46% of independents approved of him, just 28% disapproved and 26% were on the fence, don't know, not sure, undecided. Your poll, YouGov and others show an average of independents or the non-affiliated voter show an average of 37% approve, down from 46. 52% disapprove, up from 26% as more of the non-affiliated comes off the fence. 11% still aren't sure, don't know etc.

Your poll shows 81% of Republicans approve of him, YouGov 82%, that's about as close as one can get. Back at the end of January, 85% of Republicans viewed Trump favorably. Considering that around 15% of the GOP was never-Trumpers, that is never Trump except against Hillary Clinton, that isn't much of a drop and is probably within the margin of error of the polls. That is pretty steady.

On the other hand, 85% of all Democrats disapproved or had an unfavorable view of Trump at the end of January. That is up to 95% in your poll, YouGov lists Democratic disapproval at 89%. Only a very Democrats have jumped on the disapproval band wagon, a few Republicans have departed the Trump Train. But once again those who departed fall within the margin of error of the polls.

One can attest that when it comes to Republicans and Democrats, their views are about as partisan and polarized as it gets. Not much change from either party. No base is crumbling. It is the non-affiliated, those who held their nose and voted for the lesser of two evils that are changing their views and coming down against Trump. Especially those who were sitting on the fence last January.

Perhaps the question is, what percentage of the electorate is Trump's base of support. When looking at the exit polls from November, half of those who voted for Trump were anti-Clinton voters. Not necessarily pro-Trump voters, any Tom, Dick or Harry would have done as long as their last name wasn't Clinton. Half of Trump's 46% of the vote is 23%. Now 34% of the total electorate had a favorable view of Trump last November. So I would say Trump's base of support is between 23% and 34% of the total electorate. That support Trump will never lose, just like Richard Nixon never lost his avid supporters either.

So people may not like the dude and thats fine... but he is fighting and representing your Citizenship, and I think misguided by some of his actions are still within the policies...

So if stupid people want to dislike him for his twitter rants or his hair or because he takes 2 scoops of icecream.....you guys are idiots....

You are an American Citizen and your priority is to the American people....... What is best for the country.... Not just your personal beliefs.....or your political beliefs....

Literally none of those have occurred in any meaningful capacity.

Why is that? May I ask? Why do you think something like this hasn't happened?

Dems will not support ANYTHING to Repeal ACA (This is in no way a Democratic reason, This purely political and in which way does this benefit the AMERICAN CITIZENS)

Repubs - Are afraid to repeal ACA, because they may be in states that are teetering on the Dem lines, they may lose their Seat if they support a repeal.....Think of it, A republican that is benefiting from the prior condition exclusion....is not going to help repeal it...they are benefiting....but they are still a republican.....

Build a Wall..... While I do think this is a waste of money....why is it a bad Idea...If we are having a serious issue with ILLEGALS, I am not saying immigration as a whole. ILLEGALS....we need to do something... its like a hole in your house, and the rats are coming through....do you do nothing?

Taxes......We are losing jobs, products everything to CHINA? Why is that? because we need to charge honest people MORE Taxes to subsidies the one that DONT want to work. If you want to work and build your wealth why should you be penalized for doing so....Isnt the intent to get OFF public services not stay on it for life......

So again... really is it TRUMPS fault these things are not going through as planned or is it because people are choosing to ignore the greater good and only go on personal or political beliefs....

Plain and simple coal is dying. The reason many don't like him is he don't like people that make fun of handicapped people we were taught better than we don't like people at grope women we were taught better than the I have no idea where you're from dude but holy crap.

Why is that? May I ask? Why do you think something like this hasn't happened?

Because under actual scrutiny by anyone who knows what they're talking about, any one of those ideas is obviously stupid.

Dems will not support ANYTHING to Repeal ACA (This is in no way a Democratic reason, This purely political and in which way does this benefit the AMERICAN CITIZENS)

Republicans are afraid because they know repealing the ACA is a bad idea. You implicitly acknowledge this with your "doing so would hurt them politically" (well DUH) statement.

Because 40% of them fly here. In airplanes. A wall isn't going to block airplanes.

And the bigger problem is the incentive to work. Take that away, they'll leave on their own. Maybe you should ask yourself why the corrupt businessman who made a living exploiting laborers is helping to maintain a subclass of laborers for businesses to exploit- especially when he uses them as scapegoats.

Taxes......We are losing jobs, products everything to CHINA? Why is that?

Because labor is cheaper in China.

because we need to charge honest people MORE Taxes to subsidies the one that DONT want to work. If you want to work and build your wealth why should you be penalized for doing so....Isnt the intent to get OFF public services not stay on it for life......

That's an incredibly ignorant analysis. Actually, i do real work, which means my income is taxed at a higher rate than someone who collects capital gains for a living, like Romney. There are about 4,000 households that have more than $1,000,000 in annual income but pay no income taxes, whatsoever. Why are you okay with those expensive freeloaders exploiting the rest of us?

So again... really is it TRUMPS fault these things are not going through as planned or is it because people are choosing to ignore the greater good and only go on personal or political beliefs....

Your excuses for why he is unable to do what he said he'd do are irrelevant. You are claiming that he should get credit for things that he legitimately failed to do. It's like if a student claimed "my dog ate my homework" and the teacher then gave him full credit.

Sure....hes an idiot, said and done stupid things.... groping women still no lawsuits yet... 12 women... one of thems had to have filled full charges and proceeded them...Yeah nothing..

Coal yeah gotcha...I used that though as reference.....

Again you DONT Have to like the guy...thats fine.... but his actions for the greater of the AMERICAN PEOPLE....the protection...... the future and sustainability of the nation....... Thats what I see.... I dont care about the guy and his morals but if hes able to make the right decision for the greater good of the people.

You can have an Trump that acts like a dope through twitter... but his fundamental policies are the basis of the constitution

Or

You can have Bama, that looks great, acts great...great personality...NO Skeletons in the closet @ the time of Presidency....but his policies...... are bankrupting the system......

Who do you want someone that looks good that will bring down the whole system

or someone that acts like an idiot sometimes, but when its time to put in work..... he tries.....

Because under actual scrutiny b.............

HUH LOL..... continued below

Republicans are afraid because they know repealing the ACA is a bad idea. You implicitly acknowledge this with your "doing so would hurt them politically" (well DUH) statement.
Bad Idea to WHOM, the forefront of ACA was the exclusion of prior conditions, Other than that, its bankrupting the system, ACA was not built around the insurance system it was designed on universal care, 2 different financial structures. Yes doing so politically hurts them....THAT has nothing to do with the BETTERMENT of the AMERICAN CITIZEN, just political

Because 40% of them fly here. In airplanes. ........

Illegal immigrants, And that still leaves 60% that are coming on foot, to include drugs etc.... While again I stated it doest seem like a probably financial benefit.... so because 40% by airplane we should do nothing.... Yeah great answer...

And the bigger problem is the incentive to work. Take that away, they'll leave on their own. Maybe you should ask yourself why the corrupt businessman who made a li............
Wanna know the hard to swallow answer? Privileged AMERICANS that are to good to work in labor jobs, College Students that expect $50k+ jobs right out of college. People losing their jobs to other that are willing to work harder for less and then go on Unemployment and refusing to take any job applicable....so they bleed the system. Your point points exactly to the LAZY SLOBS...... Dont deny the fact that the American People have become elitist and privileged and their expectations are well beyond their capabilities. TRUTH

Because labor is cheaper in China.
Becuase the American people are too good to pick vegis in the hot sun or work in a factory for what ever wages they can get. They would rather sit at home and watch the price is right and get Welfare/Unemployment... China does not have that luxury, you work and make money or you starve... not worrying about a whammy.....

That's an incredibly ignorant analysis. Actually, i do real work, which means my income is taxed at a higher rate than someone who collects capital gains for a living, like Romney. There are about 4,000 households that have more than $1,000,000 in annual income but pay no income taxes, whatsoever....................

You are probably right on this, I am ignorant.... this was just my bias opinion. So please excuse me. With that....... $1mill an no income tax...... So when they go to buy food, or a car or any other "toy" in their state they dont pay state taxes? Whats funny is people look past that.... Sure the Person makes $1mill and finds away not to pay the 25% in taxes. Lets do the math there though? Does the guy take $1mill in income and put it in a mattress? Or does he buy a car, how about food? How about golf, how about all those out side services? and lets say with each thing he buys state tax is 5%.......

A normal person would spend $20k-$50k a year on randoms.... But this $1 millionaire may spend $100k-$500k..... they are still paying taxes to the state they are in.... Lets not act like they completely avoid all taxes...With that.... sure they use business right offs.....BUT each right off, be it Food, Office Supplies, Golf Trips etc is still taxed by the State.....They just figured out how to use the Money to their benefit while still paying taxes...

Your excuses for why he is unable to do what he said he'd do are irrelevant. You are claiming that he should get credit for things that he legitimately failed to do. It's like if a student claimed "my dog ate my homework" and the teacher then gave him full credit.

My excuses? While I would say not excuses, I would say opinion, neither right nor wrong.... That being said..... good example of dog ate my homework.... but i would more liken to.... I turned my homework into my teacher... but my teacher lost its her fault, but she failed me because she lost it...

Taking responsibility for your actions......... as an American Citizen and helping to build the nation is one of our inherent responsibilities.... to hate a guy just to hate a guy is irresponsible. If he is doing a bad "JOB" which I do not think he is doing... he might not be doing things people do not agree with him... but doing a BAD Job? He is doing what he said he would do...... right or wrong....that does not discredit him from being a POTUS....now if he was getting blown under the desk in is office...we got another story....till then..... people need to stop looking at his hair and look at what is best for the NATION...

Security/Safety and well being of LAW ABIDING CITIZENS

Health care for those in need

Proper Taxation and proper us of Taxes taken from the Law Abiding citizens

“You know, thinking about it, I’m not even sure what I expected. I just thought it would miraculously work out wonderful for everybody,” Bobbi Smith, a 62-year-old Obamacare enrollee who voted for Trump, says. “So I guess maybe I didn’t put enough thought into what I would expect from a health care act.”

he suckered the uneducated, its that simple.

Really..... so 49% of the nation was uneducated, and the greater of the Electoral Collage, those that represent the great part of the nation...that I feel are EDUCATED, were suckered?

Thats just sounds like an oxymoron?

While I will say this... if there was another candidate for the Dems other than HRC...likely they would be POTUS....but the point of the fact is.....He won the Electoral college and to me that seems like the more educated decision?

the only educated decision was to stay home and get drunk. The moron has the senate at a standstill dealing with his stupidity, I suppose that makes the dems happy.
