while our idiot prez trashes Qatar...

I think it's rather smart. Bashing Qatar helps affirm relationships with the 5 ME nations that have suspended relations with the country over Iran controversy. It forces Qatar into a hard spot diplomatically. If they disallow the US military base there that further shows them aligned with Iran. It helps force them to pick a side and face the consequences of that. If Qatar wants to stay wealthy and relevant they need to cut ties with Iran and affirm their alliance to other ME nations.

Why should the US want tighter ties with the countries responsible for al qeada and funding ISIS instead of the country that opposes these factions?

Qatar has less debt and more NG than Saudi Arabia

It will remain wealthy, it has never been relevant outside of its O&G production and never will be relevant outside of its O&G production.

If the US decides to leave China will be more than willing to become a good friend to Qatar

The US used to have a military base in Saudi Arabia...but Osama Bin Laden didn't like it, so it was moved to Qatar....

"...Since Saudi Arabia houses the holiest sites in Islam (Mecca and Medina), a number of Muslims, including Bin Laden and his supporters, were outraged at the permanent presence of non-Muslim U.S., British and French military personnel. The continued presence of U.S. troops after the Gulf War in Saudi Arabia was also one of the stated motivations behind the September 11th terrorist attacks[1] and the Khobar Towers bombing. The date of the 1998 United States embassy bombings was eight years to the day (August 7) that American troops were sent to Saudi Arabia.[2] [3]

So by your logic, that shows Saudi Arabia is really aligned Al Qaeda, right?

FIRST ON CNN: US suspects Russian hackers planted fake news behind Qatar crisis - CNNPolitics.com

Looks like our bitch assed prez ran his mouth before he got Intel and he got punked by Russian fake news just like his followers do.

So Russia runs fake news about qatar which puts our military personnel in jeopardy over there and trump puts them in worse harm's way by being an idiot dupe.

Trump was chumped! Via tweet Trump took credit for Qatar's diplomatic disaster in the Middle East only to be proven a fool once again. Not only did Trump have nothing to do with it he took credit for a Russian fake news hack and once again ****ed over an ally. Trump is an international embarrassment for the United States minus Trump supporters and the GOP, who refuse to say or do anything about the world class dumpster fire that is Trump. It's all on the GOP.

Yeah, and you believe it was the Russians as opposed to say.... Saudi Arabia.

This Russians are the new Jews thing is getting tiring. I'm opposed to Saudi Arabia financing ISIS whether Trump, Obama, Hillary, or Bush is in office. If i thinking raping 5 year-old girls is wrong I don't suddenly change my views and promote raping 5 year-old girls as the greatest need on earth, just because some leader of a party I identity with gets up and preaches it as the progressives move forward in the world.

Actually, I identify with neither party.

Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia were all said to have been financing ISIS and Al Qaida and some other terrorist outfits.

Here's the thing, I've been to the UAE and enjoyed it. A very conservative people though, more so than Republicans. But they were refined and very civilized. And from videos of Qatar I like that place big time. But I have always hoped (because I like both places) it is totally false that the UAE and Qatar have helped ISIS and Islamic radicals out. However, if it is true then I will have to accept that. And I won't defend it if they are doing that.

I hope they are not though.

Saudi Arabia I'm persuaded is and has been.

And the United States has been.

Russia has not.

Interesting mix of people, wouldn't you agree?

In what seems to be 'normal' for Trump, he contradicts the public statements of his own people once again. Are you surprised?

Trump undercuts his aides by contradicting their statements

Members of President Trump’s Cabinet and top White House aides tried to soften his travel ban by calling it a “temporary pause.” They said his firing of former FBI director James B. Comey was not about the Russia investigation. And this week they used their public comments to attempt to keep the United States out of a messy regional conflict in the Middle East.

But every time, Trump weighed in with a different message that effectively undercut what his aides and Cabinet secretaries appeared to be trying to achieve.

Trump’s aides are quickly learning they speak for the president at their own peril.

The president seems to shrug off these incidents, several of which have occurred since he took office, and he has made clear that ultimately only he speaks for his administration, all while rejecting efforts to curtail his use of Twitter.

This past week, his overwhelming ignorance of the world outside the construction and hospitality business environment, once again has repercussions his more knowledgeable people had tried to quell.
he challenge for Trump’s aides reached an international scale this week. After Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf nations cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar, over its alleged support for terrorists in the region, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and principal deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders all said on Monday that the United States hoped to help mediate and de-escalate the crisis.

But on Tuesday, in early morning tweets, Trump leaned into the dispute. He lambasted Qatar and voiced support for the Saudi-led coalition of nations, all the while seemingly ignoring that the United States has long had strategic military ties to Qatar.

“During my recent trip to the Middle East, I stated that there can no longer be funding of Radical Ideology,” Trump wrote. “Leaders pointed to Qatar — look!”

Finally, we have an explanation as to why Trump just loves his Twitter
“The president has always said that Twitter is like owning his own newspaper, except he can’t lose money,”
I wonder if he has the slightest understanding of the legal consequences resulting from his Twitter statements which have been shown to be false.

Qatar and state-sponsored terrorism

The Arab country of Qatar, bordered by Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf, has been accused of allowing terror financiers to operate within its borders. The country has been called "the Club Med for Terrorists"

In November 2014, the U.S. Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, David Cohen, described Qatar as operating an environment that is tolerant of terrorism financing.[3]
