Whitlock claimed Lebron James does not suffer racism because he's rich. He claimed racism only affects poor people.
The Mashup » Martellus Bennett slams Jason Whitlock for saying LeBron James is too wealthy to experience ?real racism?
The radio, today, is lit up with people slamming him for his ignorant remarks.
Fellow broadcaster on FS1:
Martellus Bennet:
Not only do rich blacks suffer racism, wealth can be a trigger for racists. When a racist sees a black person with wealth, it makes them angry. They will spew crap like "it's because of affirmative action" and other such thinly veiled racist remarks. Thus, not only do rich blacks suffer racism, they are sometimes a trigger for racists.
It's time we all recognize that wealth does not insulate someone from racism. It's good to see the wide-spread condemnation of Whitlock's remarks. Fox Sports 1 radio spent all afternoon slamming Whitlock, so credit to them.
I've seen the "rich blacks don't suffer racism" and "poor whites have it worse than blacks" statements here at DebatePolitics. I wonder if anyone still wants to defend those statements.
“Racism is an issue in America but is primarily an issue for the poor. It’s not LeBron James’ issue,” he said. “He has removed himself from the damages and the ravages of real racism.”

Jason Whitlock’s FS1 colleague calls his LeBron James comments ‘dumb and reckless’ | For The WinFor him to even suggest that because LeBron is rich shields him from racism is preposterous & just plain dumb.
Racism, against blacks, Jews, Asians, whites etc has no tax bracket or cares about your popularity. In fact, in some cases it incites it.

For dude to sit on national television and basically say that Oprah himself and Lebron are a different black from everyone else is ludicrous
Racism is a living organism. A parasite. That continues to find new hosts everyday.
Jason Whitlock’s take on LeBron James and racism is his stupidest one yet | For The WinJason Whitlock has so thoroughly confused himself by constantly trying to come up with a contrarian view on race that he no longer has any idea what his own views on race might be. That’s really the only explanation for his latest take on LeBron James’ reaction to his house being vandalized with a racial slur.
Rich blacks may not have been prevented from “rising” by the systematic racism that plagues minorities in this country, but to say they don’t have it hard — or at the very least, harder than their white peers — is flat-out ridiculous. Put it this way, Kevin Love doesn’t have to worry about his house being vandalized with racial slurs.
