Dems and Gop can't agree on crap and independents have no power.

Should states just become their own nations at this point?

Surely the time has come for states to become their own nations. Surely the thought of the United States has failed.
The left and the right can't agree on basic stuff anymore. And those who claim the middle has zero power to make any impact. Are you not tire of hearing the other side opinions they think your wrong you think they wrong both sides thinks the other side is lying let's just break up already.

No, we are all Americans and failure is not an option.

You have a President who hates the press tells lies on a level unseen in history. Leads his base with chants of lack her up. Incites violence. Thinks he's a dictator. Now surely the other side would more then likely disagree with me so why bother?

Because the america that I want to prosper is one that listens to its moral consciousness and rejects the tribalism that this man spouts.

No. But I'll admit at times I'd sure like to go forth with a red state blue state secession from one another. Then watch the red States cry about all the fed government handouts to their states that dry up. Then they can't blame the blue States for their poverty and low wages and **** healthcare and overall low standards of living.

They'd simply have to own it the way they never do now.

So why vote no?

I wouldn't mind a return of a little more federalism IF the Right could prove that it wasn't out to screw over everyone outside of the top 1%. All these "beautiful" coal jobs that Trump has promised? Puh-lease, he might bring back a couple thousand at most. Coal is not a viable long-term strategy, and I'm not just talking about the environment.

Here's the thing, if conservatism were only about minarchism, I wouldn't agree with it, but I'd be okay with some states wanting to give it a run. But these very conservatives who preach "limited government" want to enable oppressive police forces, limit the basic rights of LGBT people, tell women what to do with their vaginas, and leave the little guy hanging out to dry. And, as they proved yet again today, they have zero respect for the environment. And that's not to mention their disdain for anything "intellectual," "globalist," or anything else that doesn't fit into their extremely narrow view of the world.

So no, they don't get to get rid of us. We're stuck with each other, and we are going to figure this **** out together.

That wouldn't happen. When the blue states had to purchase all the fuel, and most of the food from the red states, that money dynamic we have would change an awful lot.

I Agree with all you said except the last paragraph. When the last President came in and actually cleaned up crap a big huge pile of horse bull and pig crap. The right label him as worst president of all time while giving the guy before him praise for keeping up safe when 9/11 happen on his watch their is just no reasoning with the right they are who they are and will never change.

Let's not be dramatic. This is not the first time our country has been rife with partisianship. Before the progressive reforms of the early 1900's and during the McCarthy era come to mind. I think we need to make some serious adjustments to our political system if we are going to make real progress towards a political system that represents most Americans. Overturning Citizen's United and getting even stricter about campaign donations from interest groups, rank voting replacing FPTP voting, abolition of the electoral college, a rethinking of the powers of the courts to interpret legislation from congress, etc. all would go a long way. I know a lot of that sounds like butt-hurt liberal stuff, but no one wins when you only have to appeal to a portion of the population. Would we still have presidents supporting corn subsidies and droning on about manufacturing jobs that will never return if we didn't have FPTP voting and the electoral college? I highly doubt it. Going to a rank voting system promotes other parties with different views and will likely lead to a moderates having more power. Getting rid of the electoral college will promote moderation of Presidential candidates. Busting out of the 2 party trap will do a lot of good for ending partisanship.

who's being dramatic here the people or the so call leadership? What has Congress done so far this year? Other then executive orders what meaningful laws has passed to help all Americans not just the one percent and not just his base? And what administration has started out under so many investigations?

Let not your heart be troubled...and don't get all depressed. It's not as bad as all that.

In fact, a big chunk of the middle DID make an impact in our last election. They made a statement of rejection to those on the left and the right that you are complaining about.

However, there are many...especially Congressional politicians...from both parties who agree with each other. Now...they would never SAY so publicly, but their actions make it clear.

For example, consider the Republicans trying SOOO hard to dump Obamacare...when they knew that they could never do it because Reid controlled the Senate or because Obama would veto anything they tried to do. They had no intention of actually repealing that crappy law. How do we know? Because now...when the Republicans control the WHOLE DAMNED GOVERNMENT, they won't do it. They NEVER intended to actually dump the law...anymore than the Democrats would ever dump it. And that's not all...tax reform...spending reductions...you name it and a sizable number of the Republicans in Congress will oppose everything they've SAID they want to do.

THOSE are the people Trump campaigned against. THOSE are the swamp-dwellers. THOSE are the politicians all those people who elected Trump want gone.

It'll be hard, for sure. There is a LOT of opposition to Trump and a LOT of support for those swamp-dwellers...including the Mainstream Media.

But don't give up. Boot those Democrats...boot those lying Republicans...elect people who actually CARE about America. Now is not the time to break up the country. Now is the time for the people to FIX the country.

I thank you for your response I surely hope we can all just get along lol. At lease the majority of Americans all agreed this went to far.

we may all be Americans but we bitch like a bunch of nine year olds

we don't have a UNITED nation; we have a POS dysfunctional dying, basically dead remnant of years gone by

we are a failure; our constant bitching is proof of that failure

Oh...don't be fooled by the Mainstream Media turning against this woman. There are a whole LOT of people who have their irrational hatred of Trump and this doesn't bother them at all. If it DID, why didn't this bother them?

Kathy Griffin told Vulture at the Equality Now Gala Tuesday night. “For me, that’s Trump and all things Trump. It’s not about trying to be an equal-opportunity offender anymore because Hillary got such a beat down. It’s his turn. So I’m happy to deliver beat down to Donald Trump — and also to Barron. You know a lot of comics are going to go hard for Donald, my edge is that I’ll go direct for Barron. I’m going to get in ahead of the game.

Tell me...if Maxine Waters was in that picture, do you think the House Democrats would have forced her to resign?

As far as "just get along", I don't think so. Not as long as there are so many...which includes the Mainstream Media...who won't stop at trying to destroy Trump. They don't want to get along.

Nah. We'd have mass transit driving down consmption and we'd get our fuel from Canada and Mexico. Oh... and California is the biggest farming state in the country.

And here I thought the idea of having the different points of view argued and compromise, on an
acceptable solution, was one of the more elegant features of our Charter document (The Constitution).
People say it is not working, I think it is working as designed!
The system is not designed for quick decisions, based on the passions of the moment.

The California Republic would do just fine without the feds. Not that any of this will ever happen so.... we are cursed to remain in the endless relationship of right vs left with the middle providing nothing either.

I'm tired of the Democrats and Republicans playing good cop vs bad cop.

Wasn't it during the 1960s the liberals were all "respect other countries rights" and "cultures are not good or bad but just 'different'"? I guess that was good cop role. Then they switched to playing bad cop role and preaching about how globalism trumps respect of other countries rights. How they flipped on "cultures just being 'different.'"

The Republicans are no better.

Actually, there is some divide in each party. That's why Bernie was so popular and Trump was so popular. Many people in each party were tired of the direction they saw their respective party going in.

I think you are correct. I would give a "like" to the post except I'm hoping you're wrong.
