2) Immigration Act of 1965
3) Great Society

100% AGREE on Webb. He was best candidate either party had IMO

Not in order and haven't been said yet...(except number 9)

1) Cout de ta in Iran in the 1950's, CIA overthrowing a democratically elected politician and replaced him with a dictator that fit the needs of the U.S. This is the root of all hatred that Iran has toward the U.S.

2) Supporting and supplying Sadaam Hussien during their war with Iran in the 1970's. (you wonder why Iran hates us?)

3) Iran Contra - Reagan

4) Getting involved with the Russian/ Afghanistan conflict.....

5) Invasion of Iraq in 2001

Middle East has evolved the way it has in large part because the U.S. has been involved every step of the way.

6) Cout de ta's in South America

7) Vietnam and the "Domino Theory"

8) Military Complex after WWII

9) Bush's, Hoover, Nixon, Trump

The Civil war hypothetical is an interesting one. Maybe it would have been best to let the conservatives go....However, African Americans (and possibly Mexicans eventually) would have suffered through many more years of slavery.

Excellent post!

And left out
one very big one, in my opinion, Electoral College

I'd add not making gerrymandering a serious federal crime punishable with mandatory jail time.

Biggest Political Mistakes in US History (in no particular order)

Don Cheeto Clown Boy Trumpski
Lincoln
Hoover (Herbert)
George W. Bush
George H.W. Bush
Nixon
Reagan

The GOP .................................. 1854 was a ****ty year ...............

Why does everyone hate this guy?
Don Cheeto.jpg

This has got to be the dumbest list ever. Although, I probably agree in principle with George W. the rest of the list is just sort of a DNC nightmare put on paper. It does go to show how Democrats just have this sort of visceral reaction to anyone and everyone with whom they disagree. No room for disagreement, anyone who does not share my view must be evil and the worst ever.

My opinion is Lincoln not letting the South go was the worst decision in history. Now we're stuck with them, and they screw up the country on a daily basis. Thanks for nothing, Abe.

I get accused of broad brushing sometimes, how about you?

The USSR was a big big nation and most of it land area was beyond US bombers range at the time and we did not have a large supply of atom bombs either.

Russia is big? Ya don't say

If given the choice I would suggest Martin O'Malley or Bernie sanders were better options than Hilliary.

On that I agree I just take it a step further thinking Webb was better Sanders or Omalley.

I think he has the military experience we need I today's world. He was proven to work across lines. He was level headed and didn't promise the government would pay for more and more programs. He just seemed like a level calm voice our country could of used

Here's the thing though, Webb did not win the approval IOC liberal democrats like myself. He just did not appeal to many democrats.

I think if he hadn't run in a cycle predetermined to be Hillary's He would of had more appeal. He was popular with the moderate of both parties Thoae are the swing votes that win elections. Party loyalist will support whatever tied gets the nod, as proven by Trump and Clinton

Can't blame the democrats for choosing to endorse her as early as 2014.

The worst mistake was getting involved in WWI.

Not bombing the **** out of the Soviet Union immediately after WWII.

Allying with the Communists is definitely near the top of the list.

Little doubt in my mind...December 23, 1913.

The day the Federal Reserve was created.

The largest mistake in American history, IMO (after enacting a Constitution that did not specifically outlaw slavery).

I had a hard time deciding between this and entry into WWI, but given how many lives were lost because of that, I decided that entering the war was worse.

It was the soviets that kept german forces occupied while we opened a second front.

And it was the Soviets who overran eastern Europe, spread their ideology to Asia, and killed tens of millions.

In terms of threats to the world, the Soviets were far worse than the Nazis. Not that I'm a defender of Nazi aggression by any means.

OK. Please explain exactly what razing an already devastated nation would have accomplished.

But the nazis declared war on us.

On I can and do blame them for pushing her sence 2012. I could of supported any of the other three, but nope they hitched up to her and even stacked the odds in her favor. I totally blame them for that
