Trump has made 78 or more promises and pledges to his voters. Many were to be fulfilled "on Day One in office". It has been four months. I have not listed every promise, other than the major ones. Let's see if he was serious:

Immigration – The signature Issue that kicked off the Trump movement. He promised, on "the day" took office, to repeal Obama's two "illegal" executive "amnesty" orders on behalf of illegals.

Result: Trump has refused to actually cancel either executive order. He flipped and overtly defends one of the two order's, on Daca. The other order is being held up by a 25 state court suit. Trump has, however, at least ignored some of the other Obama executive order by ending Obama's immediate catch and release and will deport any illegal (non DACA) illegal has been in the US less than than two years.

Trump's other immigration promises remain postponed, held up, or largely barely started. They are:

- Build a wall, border to border. (Remains Unfunded).
- Deport (either physical or self-deportation) most illegals. (No action)
- Reductions in legal immigration. (No action).
- Ending anchor baby citizenship. (No action).
- Immediate deportation of all criminal aliens. (Slight Action).
- EXTREME Muslim vetting. (Held up by courts).
- End Sanctuary City Funding, (Threatened but not yet tried).

Obamacare – Termination and replacement with new "terrific" program. (No specific Trump plan has been made or promoted. GOP House plan still held up in Senate).

Trade Protectionism -

- Cancel TPP and to renegotiate NAFTA (Promise Kept)
- Impose significant new tariffs that will protect jobs (No Action)
- Going after companies that invest overseas (No Action)
- Declaring of China as Currency Manipulator (Promise Broken, Trump now says China is friend and is not a CM)

New and Expensive Debt for Massive Infrastructure Program for “Jobs”, costing as much a 1 Trillion. (No Action)

Climate Change –

-End Paris accord "on first day". (Postponed 4 months, uncertain)
-End funding of UN climate change. (Requested in Trump in budget).
-Slash size of EPA. (Requested by Trump in budget).

Employer-Government Paid Childcare - (No Action)

Tear Up Iran Agreement and holding Iran Accountable on "first day" (Promise Broken).

Dramatically Lower Taxes for Corporations and Individuals (e.g. 35 percent cut on middle class), resulting in booming economy. (No actual plan by Trump, GOP proposals stuck in Congress).

Return of Manufacturing to America (Nope, not yet).

Substantial Rebuild of Military (Uncertain. So far only a minor 25 billion budget increase).

Appointment of Special Prosecutor to Investigate and, if found warranted, prosecute Hillary Clinton. (Promise Broken)

(Continued)...

Appointment of Conservative Supreme Court Justices Like Scalia. (Promise Kept).

Draining the swamp (a familiar cliche' and promise, but if the swamp was drained then it seems the alligators remain).

Out of Control National Debt Growth and serious Entitlement Reform. Trump has ignored the Debt, and kept his promise to ignore serious Entitlement Reform.

Federal Hiring Freeze - Canceled, promise broken.

So far Trump has seriously pursued and kept only a few promises. On some others, some signature issues, he has broken his pledges and failed to act on others. Now we wait if he is going to break his "first day in office" pledge to end the Paris climate accords (as he has on immigration, Hillary Clinton, Iran, and China) or if he will keep his promise, as he did on the Supreme Court and TPP.

Trump is certainly a compulsive liar. He has probably told more petty, unnecessary lies than all the other Presidents in my lifetime combined. But as far as substantive lies that actually affect things, I think he is on par with most politicians.

The obviously over-the-top "on day one" type promises he made, I think, because he didn't actually think he would win.

I honestly believe all of this is true .... ;)

Trump--Con Artist.

I should have included that. It is entirely possible that he believes everything he says, in the moment.

Yes. And the moment is forgotten in an instant. At least by Trump.

In the middle of sentences, and in the middle of words.

You do understand the agreement is non-binding? He does not have to honor any of it without pulling out, another nothing burger.

So what was the poster I responded to congratulating Trump for? You assume that was the best he could do? I don't know. In my book, Trump's successes have been his failures.

Maybe you can answer the OP question. After all, those Muslims still enter the U.S. And the Saudis are welcomed by Trump. Got Wahhabism?

It is no more extreme than fundamental Islam, that is all I will say about it, at least in this thread.

They say only your friends can disappoint you; if so, I suppose I should not be disappointed by Trumps first 4 months in office. I didn't really expect much, but I thought he might do some pretty great things (prosecute Hillary Clinton) and some really horrible stuff (spend a trillion dollars on "infrastructure"). And I feared that "the great negotiator" might make deals with Democrats.

As it turned out, I under-estimated his incompetence. I knew he would never "grow in office" but I thought he might find his footing. However, every Trump weakness that he displayed in the election is on center stage; staff turmoil, blaming staff, divided council, shallow grasp of the issues and ideology, etc. He is a rebel without a clue, searching for a "win" without really knowing what a win is.

Combine that with a hyper petty and partisan press and its going to be a rocky 4 years.

PS - I forgot to include his promise to move the US embassy to Jerusalem...now postponed indefinitely.

My broken record is that for all of Trump's very obvious and consistent failures, lies, ignorance, and incompetence, it's by itself meaningless.

Having millions of citizens elect him, and defend him <- That's the absolutely astounding and scary thing.

Crazy megalomaniacs are out there, but without millions of blind faithful supporters, they are powerless.

EXTREME vetting already exists, which is why Trump is getting pushed around by the judges and halting his "Muslim Ban". Because the further vetting Trump wants is unconstitutional.

Other promises not kept off the top of my head....
1) infrastructure - our country desperately needs it and nothing has been said since his speech in Feb. (Edit --- You did mention this)
2) Bringing back coal jobs (promise broken) This is structurally impossible and everyone saw it before the election except Trump supporters.
3) Not cutting Social Security or Medicaid - (promise broken) If he gets his way they will be cut...

Actually, in regards to social security and medicare, he has largely kept his promise.

I can't criticize anyone who voted for Trump (or Hillary) in the general election because it was a crap sandwich choice. However, I do blame the 14 million Trump voters in the primary, and his fawning media enablers (e.g. Hannity and 1/2 of FOX news) that created this creature.

The Republic degenerated from the Lincoln vs. Douglas debates into the Trump vs. Hillary Clinton smear fest.
