The Democrats Need a New Message

Do you have to play the race card every thread?

Just for you! :)

If I, and every other non-Progressive, use it over and over and over... why it will get so damn worn out, not even Progressives will play it!

Imagine that!

Oh, and BTW, you cannot possibly debate the Democratic Party Message, without eventually touching on Race, it is far to central to their platform! But you already knew that!

:wink2:

So you take pride in playing the race card. What an odd, sad attitude...

The deplorables comment, while bad, probably was not one of the bigger factors in her losing.*snip for length

Yeah, the deplorable thing never struck me as an iceberg. It's more of an embodiment of a poor strategy. "Look at how bad those guys are, you have to vote for me."

Quist lost because it was almost impossible for a democrat to win there. Early voting was not it.

Without the body slam; I would fully expect a 6-7 point loss. With the body slam; I'd expect Quist to at least get within the margin of error.

No. You fall right back into the trap that Clinton lost on.*snip

Yeah, I don't want to fall into that trap. I'm not a presentable candidate.. my campaign slogan would be "Don't Vote For Republicans: They Are Evil". I get mired in complete aversion to the Republican mind, frequently. If Democrats can separate their rhetoric out like oil and water, the composition of their message won’t be so muddled. If Democrats can bring true liberal values like egalitarianism and fraternity into policy ideas, they will become better leaders themselves. Beyond just convincing the electorate to vote for them, they will become politicians worthy of respect and sympathy.

Further, with campaign finance laws as they are now, it takes alot of money top win elections. Telling a group with alot of money that we do not want it is cutting our noses off to spite our faces.

Campaigns must raise some solid funding, but, they don't need an obscene amount. HRC raised 1 billion dollars to lose to Trump. Bernie Sanders raised $44 million last March alone, through small dollar donations. My first point shows that the game is changing. The old adage, "There are two things that are important in politics. The first is money and I can't remember what the second one is.” is shifting. It only took 100 years but, technology has finally overcome the dollar's ability to buy persuasion. Democrats and Correct the Record spent profusely trying to stamp out a message that spread virally in miliseconds. A message spread through Facebook and Twitter that was driven by real people just talking mad **** on HRC at the web's water cooler. My second point is, if you give the people a message with items that appeal to them, they will fund your campaign. The Democrats covet Bernie's email list, because they recognize how utilitarian it is. However, should he hand it over its meaning would lose all singularity.

You certainly can be both. Stop trying to divide people so you can scapegoat one group to feel better about yourself. Wall Street is every bit as American as Main Street. Until you can understand that, you are part of the problem for democrats.

If you can be both, then I'm going to need some proof. I'd love to see a Democrat funded by Wall St. come out in favor of reinstating Glass-Steagal. I'd like to see a Wall St. funded Democrat advocate for raising the cap on taxable income, raising the capital gains tax rate. IMO, Democrats need to move away from Wall St., in order to contrast with typical politicians. Because I do believe campaign contributions are bribes, and I don’t think we need their money.

The rest of your post is empty platitudes.

I guess the thing about platitudes is they are abstract to listeners. To me the status-quo is meaninful. I can think of plenty offhand that represent the status-quo, Barney Frank, etc. and I can think of why I dislike them. Platitudes employed by politicians during stumps and whatnot, may be as meaningful, and precise, as this one is to me.. but, they are lost on the audience.

You want to attack status quo, but most people do not want major disruptions,*snip.

I believe there is truth to that. Even if people say they want fundamental change, when the legislation hits the floor of congress they backpedal.

You want a message that will work? Raise the minimum wage, lower corporate tax rate some(not a lot, but enough to push some extra growth), make minor changes to whatever health care system is in place the next time we get a chance, regulations to the financial system to protect people, but without going to far, get rid of bad regulations, and implement ones that are needed by a rapidly changing world. Improve government efficiency. Continue to fund the military, but look for places that you can trim without reducing readiness(the base closure commissions where a huge success in that area). And always push the idea that the government is there to serve the people. That is a message that will win.

Yes! I agree wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, and dutifully with all of your ideas.

The democrats simply need to stop with their lies.

Hillary Clinton missed an opportunity at Wellesley. She could have delivered a message of unity, and helped our anxious country begin to heal. Her followers need to see her putting country above politics; they need to see her as she briefly appeared at the inauguration, supporting the peaceful and legitimate transfer of power. Apparently, that is just too heavy a lift for Mrs. Clinton. She is happier nursing her wounds, and continuing to inflict them on the country.
Hillary Clinton's bitter Wellesley address a missed opportunity | Fox News

Great line and she really does suck that bad which makes the D party scum and those who imagine that she should have by all rights beaten Trump idiots. Hillary was the best of the best according to the Elites, but she is actually really awful, which makes the elite either liars or idiots....or both.

Bernie Sanders offered the Democrats a new message. They (and the country as a whole I think) just weren't quite ready to hear it yet. But he went about delivering his message in the right way. He was positive and hopeful. He focused on what he could do to help America, not what Republicans were doing wrong.

The DNC can come up with all the "jingles' and messages it wants.

The simple fact that they selected Perez as their chairman is proof that they are not serious about any real changes in their platform.

"Hating on the white man" isn't what I would call inclusive politics.

The democrats simply need to stop with their lies.

And they need to dump Hillary.

And they need to dump George Soros, and all the other Global Faux-Socialist Corporate Cronnys, just like him.

And they need to dump Antifa, BLM and La Raza and any other organization which support the use of violence to achieve political goals.

And they need to take a close look at what the Claims Dept. is Really Doing!
https://www.debatepolitics.com/gene...crats-campaign-managers-dont-get-and-why.html

And they need to acknowledge to America that Obama really was using America's Intel Agencies to Spy on and persecute Americans, and then agree to indite and prosecute Obama.

And they need to acknowledge that Lois Lerner abuses her official powers, and agree to prosecute her.

And they need to Reign-In or Retire their 1960s Radicals who never should have been trusted with political power.

And they need to tell the Radical Green that Climate Change Has Always been happening, and Humans are not the primary, or even 5th order, cause. They need to continue to advocate care for the enviroment, but in pragmatic, self-less, non-totalitairian ways.

And they need to stop with the Group Idenity Politics of Divide and Pander. Selectively destroying Christian Bakers for the same "Crime" a Muslim baker is given a pass on is wrong.

And they need to stop taking huge sums of Campaign Money from Saudi Princes.

And they need to stop selling our Uranium to the Russians.

And they need to stop trying to disarm Common Americans and abolish the 2nd Ammendment.

And they need to stop passing major pieces of legislation like the ACA, before it has even been Read by the people voting on it.

And they need to stop standing behind A.G. like Holder who blatantly and repeatedly break the law.

And they need to stop appointing NASA heads who think that Muslim Outreach is the primary mission of NASA.

And they need to stop importing Muslims and Mexican to replace Americans, ignoring and refusing to enforce the duly passed Immigration Legislation.

And they need to Stop using the IRS, EPA, DHS, FBI, CIA, and access to higher education as Personal Destruction Political Weapons.

And they need to stop turning away Christian Refugees from the Syria, while accepting as "Syrian Refugees" anyone from anywhere who is Muslim.

...

I could go for HOURS more.

There is so much WRONG with the current Democratic Party, it has become irredeemable.

We don't need a new Message, we need a new PARTY!

Why would a self proclaimed Right Libertarian pretend to know anything about the constituency of the Democratic Party when those two things are directly in opposition?

I do so as a Blue-Dog Democrat who was a actively voting member of the party for over a decade and a half!

I do so as an American Citizen who votes in a two party system!

I do so as an American Citizen who respects and supports the Rule-of-Law!

The Democratic Party used to be a CENTRIST party for the Working American, not a home for Violent, Ethnocentric, Far-Leftie Extremists!

John Kennedy is rolling in his grave in outrage over what Obama did to his Noble Democratic Party!

John Kennedy was to the Right of the Political positions of President Trump!

Being a Democrat wasn't always the same thing as being a Muslim Antifa violent Corrupt Communist!

You have an opinion. Terrific.

Right libertarians are the complete opposite of those who comprise the Democratic Party. Politically, they are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.

btw - JFK has been dead for half a century now. If that is your frame of reference for the Democratic Party, you need to catch up on the changes in this nation for the last fifty years.

I'm looking forward to a much brighter future.

I'm working to create the OWLs political party, to replace the corrupted Dems.

As a model for the new party, I am looking back to the Democrats great successes in leadership, but also to Republicans, and Civil Leaders like Dr. King!

Like the Whiggs, the Democratic Party made their own noose.

Like the Were-Whigg-Voters, Most current Democrats, while turn toward the Brighter OWL future!

terrific.

If Dems can show America that they are actually the "pro economic growth" party.. that's what they need to show. There's a perception that Democrats are anti-business, because GOP's have trained their base to parrot "regulation BAD!"

There is a perception in the United States that Democrats are not "pro-growth"

When Bernie Sanders policies would've actually been the most pro-growth of any candidate. Here's what I would do, I would bill myself as a New Dealer 2.0. Make the comparison that after FDR's New Deal, we built the strongest Middle Class the world has ever seen and say we are going to build a middle class like that for the 21st century. I would credit FDR directly, to the growth of the Middle Class (It doesn't matter, whether or not that's completely true.) Democrats should tie themselves to the celebrated FDR.

But that is the problem, democrats aren't pro economic growth. They are pro redistribution. Higher taxation, more regulation, bigger government are not the sort of things that spur growth. They do the opposite. It is the pursuit of profit that creates growth. Robbing Peter to pay Paul does nothing.

Here is a simple message

"The Democratic Party stands againist the sickness that is poisoning politics. That sickness is the all-consuming greed that is driving corporate profits and destroying the basis of the american middle class. The American government is supposed to represent the interests of the people, but it has become corrupted by corporate intrigue."

It's not just the Democrats who you describe here, but a large number of Republicans, as well. All of them, the Dems and the Reps are beholden to those global corporatists and their big money donations.

There are a small few in Congress who do not ascribe to this mindset, but they are virtually powerless. Trump vowed to drain the swamp. That swamp includes those Dems and Reps that you described. But they are resisting his efforts.

The people suffer.
