Like I said in another thread, follow the money. There's a reason Kushner wanted a private channel of communications with the Russians, and my guess is it had a lot to do with what he needed to do for them to secure a loan in order to save his dying investment.

I'm not a fan of coincidence. So, in my mind, this is quid pro quo. And, the quids didn't want the quo to know what was going on. Hence the need for a private means of communicating with a sanctioned Russian Bank.

...the FBI is focusing on a series of conversations that Kushner had in December with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak.
At the time, Kushner had already spent months trying to arrange fresh financing for a troubled building his family owns, 666 Fifth Avenue.
After one of those meetings, Kislyak arranged a meeting between Kushner and Sergey Gorkov, the powerful chief executive of a major Russian bank, Vnesheconombank, also known as VEB.
