Trump slides further in the Polls

Excellent. That means they are doing the right things. Sadly what poll respondents value is their own agenda, not the common good.

Does the same logic apply to elections? An election is a poll. Is a person holding elective office by definition the wrong person for the job?

Elections don't increase or decline. So, no, the same logic does not apply to elections because they aren't polls.
