Great example of how this rash of leaks coming out of our intelligence agencies will only serve, in the long run, to destroy our own credibility.

Britain expressed irritation on Wednesday at leaks in the United States of details about a suicide bomber who killed 22 people at a packed pop concert, saying disclosures of that kind could hinder such investigations.

The suicide bombing at a packed concert in Manchester was the deadliest attack in Britain since July 2005, when four British Muslim suicide bombers killed 52 people in coordinated attacks on London's transport network.

U.S broadcasters, drawing on U.S. sources, named the suspected killer as Salman Abedi hours before Manchester police revealed his identity. Non-U.S. media followed, again citing U.S. sources.

"The British police have been very clear that they want to control the flow of information in order to protect operational integrity, the element of surprise, so it is irritating if it gets released from other sources," British interior minister Amber Rudd said when asked about the U.S. leaks by the BBC.

"I have been very clear with our friends that should not happen again," Rudd said.

Our allies will inevitably stop sharing information with us if we don't put a stop to this.

Britain is right not to trust our traitorous intelligence agencies. The sooner we disregard our intelligence community the better. Our intelligence departments are a rats nest that needs to be fumigated.

Actions in statements like that, which paint the entire IC based off of the bad actions of what is likely just a few within the IC, are even more dangerous to our nation than the leaks themselves. What we need to do is identify and prosecute those that are leaking classified information, not destroy or ignore our IC.

I don't see how they're "more dangerous" than the leaks themselves. Why isn't the IC ferreting out the leakers?

So, you consider the Watergate leaker a "traitor"? Interesting viewpoint.

Very true. I love the isolated cases when there are tens of thousands of Feds etc who never leak.
It's just to bolster their small made up minds

Leaks let in light on the hidden dirt. Overall, despite the occasional damage, a good thing for an open society. Trump would like us to be a mirror of Putin's world. Ain't happening.

lol...you do know the leak probably came from the Trump camp. Right?

The disclosures renewed concerns over leaks from Donald Trump’s administration two weeks after the US president revealed classified information, apparently from Israel, to Russia’s foreign minister in a White House meeting. Critics warn that US allies may be less willing to share intelligence in the future.

Our blabber mouth in chief.

It's not there job, but rather the FBI's.

I don't care who's job it is. Why aren't they able to plug the leaks. I have a feeling the problem is more widespread than you think.

Not at all ironic that you would use a story based on information obtained from an illegal leak to insinuate that this leak came from the President.

That occasional damage from the leaking of classified information that you refer to is the capture, torture, and sometimes death of living breathing people lives. I tend to put a lot of value on that, and won't apologize for caring about it. The juxtaposition in your post of classified information in the US with a totalitarian tyrannical regime like Putin's is more than just a tad hyperbolic.

Lack of proof, for one thing. Reporters won't talk, and since a lot of people have access to the information, it's difficult to narrow down culpability. Also, these agencies tend to circle the wagons and defend their own by not talking - it's like "the first rule of fight club."

I really don't think it's all that widespread. That's just my opinion, mind you. But, I've been wrong about things like this before.

The whole thing is a mess. On one hand we have a President who is too incompetent to trust with classified information and on the other hand he has maligned the intelligence community to the point some of them are willing to break their own oaths to make Trump look bad. So at this point, if I am an allied foreign intelligence agency, I am going to think twice about sharing information with anyone in our government, from the President down to field agents.

Sometimes when a person makes a leap in logic, they wind up leaping off a cliff. That's how bad your logic is right now.

What are you talking about? These intelligence leaks about Britain have absolutely nothing to do with the president. Literally nothing. My God, I didn't know you had TDS too.

I am talking about all the leaks happening. The OP is speaking about leaks in the plural as well.

Something to keep in mind about classified information is that the government tends to classify everything under the sun. Information that would actually jeopardize national security or someone's life obviously needs protection but it is a small fraction of classified material and its deliberate unauthorized disclosure is rare.

I don't blame them. Clearly the corruption in our intelligence is clearly seen by other countries. Just look at Comey grandstanding and causing Hillary to lose the election instead of turning evidence over to the DOJ. No charges or prosecutions just a rigged election is not an acceptable performance. Trump needs to fire a lot more people and get rid of all the party rhetoric and get some respect and integrity back to these organization.
