Re: CA Dem Chair: All Together Now: F*ck Donald Trump! Crowd Holds Up Two Middle Fing
I don't like it, nothing I can do about it but watch it harm this country. It wasn't that long ago, 30-35 years maybe when both parties had their conservative and liberal wings. When 80% of all Americans identified themselves with one or the other political party. Since then one party has become the extreme right party and the other the extreme left, they shed themselves of the wing they didn't like. Then too the number of Americans who identified or affiliated themselves with the two major parties have shrunk to 57%.
That left the die hards in charge of both parties as the center, center right and center left left both parties and joined the independent or non-affiliated ranks. No political home for them which according to Gallup number some 40% of the electorate today. Up from 18% pre-polarization. Both parties has lost their moderates, those willing to compromise and work across the aisle to get things done. The Republicans lost their in 2006 when more moderate Republicans were replaced by hard left Democrats. The Democrats lost their moderates, their blue dogs in 2010 to hard core conservative Republicans.
So here we are, it sucks.
Welcome to the new era of polarized politics.
