Trump Put Israeli Spies Embedded in Isis in Danger

Next week, this will be old news and Trump will have another fiasco for the media to talk about.

The TRUE test will be when he actually DOES shoot some one, in broad daylight, on 5th Avenue.

Even then, I suspect the Trumpkins will find a way to spin that and defend him. Much like Trump predicted.

This is not illegal, as POTUS is the classification authority. It is simply horrifyingly, dangerously, incompetent.

Unlike, for example, deliberately taking classified source data and putting it into an unclassified email server, which is horrifyingly dangerously incompetent.... and also illegal for someone in the role of SECSTATE.

Let's impeach Hillary then.

Well, they clearly have no issue with Trump sharing secret information with Russians.

And you clearly have no issue about buying cow manure that passes itself off as news.

Same one you all had in mind for Hillary is a good start.

The authority that derives from is that of POTUS - it's an Executive Order. A President can declassify at will, as an Original Classification Authority can declassify their information at will. This is why so many (though definitely not all) of Hillary's emails ultimately wouldn't have been held against her - STATE information was hers. NSA and CIA not so much.

I swear...the Mainstream Media thinks the American public is stupid...and members of DP are proving them right.

Let's look at this:

1. Trump tells the Russians something.

2. The media thinks that puts a spy in danger.

Seriously...does anyone think the Russians are going to tell ISIS? Hell, Russia has been killing ISIS.

If anything, WaPo...by broadcasting classified information...is more to blame for putting that spy in danger. After all, ISIS watches American media. Heck, it's their best source of information.

If that spy dies, it's not Trump's fault. It's WaPo's fault.

Oh FFS. Another useless thread started about this issue. :doh

TRUMP DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY SOURCES TO THE RUSSIANS!!!

How many more times do you people need to be told that? If you want to point a finger at somebody, start with WaPo

(dusts off all the discussion points I had for the Hillary email scandal, and before that, when Obama decided to release Israeli classified information)

Information is classified in the United States system based off of the damage that would be done to US national security should it be exposed. In this instance, what Trump apparently did was take a giant dump on Israel by giving up their national security, by exposing their information.

Russia has an ongoing tactical, operational, and organizational cooperation on the ground with both Lebanese Hezbollah and Iran. This includes an intelligence-sharing relationship.

Gosh. I wonder if LH and Iran are Israel's friends or not.

This was a disastrously stupid action by an incompetent President who has demonstrated he cannot be trusted with Classified information or the lives of others who depend on it.

Same one you all had in mind for Hillary is a good start.

But Hillary was Secretary of State, not President when she compromised over 100 documents containing classified information. Not the same thing, is it?

It's not impossible. Russia has an ongoing cooperative relationship with both Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah, both of whom would love to get their hands on a Mossad agent.

What it does do is wreck an intelligence sharing relationship with a strategic partner, one who has helped us avoid many terror attacks in the past....

....and after today, has every incentive not to, as we can no longer be trusted to safeguard the information they collect at the risk of their lives.

Trump is POTUS. That includes the ability to put an ally's life in danger as a matter of policy. But it would be the height of idiocy to expect that ally to remain a very enthusiastic one afterwards.

Same one you all had in mind for Hillary is a good start.

And by the way, the FBI opted not to charge Hillary, despite her committing an obvious crime, much worse than the legal conversation that Trump had with 2 Russian diplomats.

TRUMP DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY SOURCES TO THE RUSSIANS!!!

I remember well when it came out that Hillary had put classified information into her emails as a routine matter.

Republicans rushed to point out "OH IT'S OKAY SHE DIDN'T DISCLOSE ANY SOURCES EXPLICITLY TO A THIRD PARTY". All day long, they were hollering that.

Oh...okay...now you are going to posit an even MORE convoluted scenario to support the media's BS. Somehow, I'm not surprised.

You would be better served to consider Occam's Razor.

None, because he didn't do anything.

We both know that, but it's fun to watch D's sputter and fume over a perfectly legal conversation, when they were bending over backwards several months ago to explain why a Secretary of State shouldn't be punished for potentially leaking hundreds of classified documents online.

My favorite excuse for Hillary was, 'but she's 70, she can't possibly know how to use a computer properly'.

And by the way, the FBI opted not to charge Hillary, despite her committing an obvious crime, much worse than the legal conversation that Trump had with 2 Russian diplomats.

Comey's decision to invent a legal standard to get himself out of a bind is not an excuse for dangerously incompetent behavior by a President.

incorrect. Trump handing the Russians actual intel is treason. He's toast....especially when we add the obstruction of justice stuff regarding Comey and the Flynn investigation. Prepare yourself.

No, I simply understand the relationships on the ground. I didn't say it was happening, I didn't say it was likely - I said it wasn't impossible, and it isn't. It's not even terribly implausible.

That being said, I've been pretty straightforward on this, because the issue is pretty straightforward.

1. What Trump did was not illegal, because he is POTUS, and thus has the authority to declassify anything he wants to, at any time.

2. It was dangerously incompetent, and likely did damage to a strategic relationship already badly frayed by the previous administration idiotic enough to give up Israeli classified information because they felt like it. It's not only the guy on the ground who is in greater danger because of this screw-up; it's everyone who has been safer due to that relationship (which is, to say, US Citizens).
