No it is not. In fact, it is something he explicitly has the authority to do, since information is classified based on his say so in the first place.

Trump is POTUS. That includes the ability to put an ally's life in danger as a matter of policy. But it would be the height of idiocy to expect that ally to remain a very enthusiastic one afterwards.

Of course not. And none of this is an excuse for Israel to go behind our back to leak a story to the Washington Post that compromises things far worse than they already were.

Without that little fact, no one would be saying, 'now our allies will be reluctant to share vital information.' Of course, it does appear as though that was the point of the leak all along.

1. Comey's memo is payback for his firing.

2. Trump didn't hand Intel to anybody. And his conversation was legal, not illegal . The only toast you'll be seeing anytime soon is the one coming from your toaster.

:lol: It was US officials who outed this one. Israel was the original owner of the information, and the one whom we screwed.

I am not wrong. The authority for classification of information comes from Executive Order, which is to say, the President of the United States. The President can declassify anything at any time for any reason. This does not mean it is a wise decision, it is only to say it is a decision within his lawful authority.

That being said, I've been pretty straightforward on this, because the issue is pretty straightforward.

1. What Trump did was not illegal, because he is POTUS, and thus has the authority to declassify anything he wants to, at any time.

2. It was dangerously incompetent, and likely did damage to a strategic relationship already badly frayed by the previous administration idiotic enough to give up Israeli classified information because they felt like it. It's not only the guy on the ground who is in greater danger because of this screw-up; it's everyone who has been safer due to that relationship (which is, to say, US Citizens).

Impeachment can be done for what ever reason the Elite make up, and I have been saying for months that they would do it.

It's a mistake for them to do it, but our alleged best and brightest rather suck.

I just hope that my 3.15.18 date is close.

I obviously don't know the circumstances under which the Israeli agent obtained the information. But one need not reveal sources and methods to put a source in danger. If only a handful of ISIS operatives knew about the reported information then ISIS leadership can narrow down who the possible spy is.

And of course the even bigger concern, for everyone except the spy, is intel sharing partners will be less eager to share information with us.

A president hand picking intelligence information to share with other countries is neither new or news.

Last summer US Intelligence Agencies announced there was at least a 99% chance 5 countries including Russia hacked every piece of information form Hillary’s computer server. That would possibly be the greatest most damaging intelligence breach in US History. It shows the true hypocrisy of Democrats that they would down play that while getting excited over a true nothing-burger like this.

The Five Eyes countries are the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. We have an agreement under which we share much classified information.

Most those guys still keep each other informed. It's one of the pains, for example, of briefing General officers. Their informal information networks often rival (and are faster than) your own.

I'm all in favor of taking those who leaked classified information and making examples of them. That, however, is not an excuse for Trump's actions, which remain reckless and incompetent.

If Trump did indeed divulge classified information we had gotten from the Israelis (and, as far as I am aware, the White House is studiously avoiding claiming that he didn't), then what he did was indeed incredibly stupid, destructive, and dangerous. It simply wasn't illegal.

That does not make a President giving classified information to someone not cleared to receive it treason. The President has the right to do that.
