He's an ass, a egomaniacal fool, a jerk, impulsive.

Yes, I like that the's pushing law and order in the immigration issue as much as he can, I like that he got someone at least at this point is an originalist leaning judge to replace the great Justice Scalia, I like his push of deregulating as much federal interference in business and the daily lives of Americans...

But he's impatient, he's flippant, he's too worried about what others say about him and he's abrasive for the sake of being abrasive.

I don't CARE about the stupid Russian thing, in terms of Trump being "influenced or controlled" or any of that ****. In fact, I think the biggest fault his compadres who did have Russian interactions with is that they saw opportunity for financial gain without considering the source of that money. Dealing with Russian business is just asking for trouble. All the other political manufactured BS is just so much Birther (and yes I get Trump was actually into that movement so the irony of him being subjected that same mindset is not lost on me) level logic and hype.

What I was really hoping was the GOP would embrace the chance to make some serious changes but it appears my worst fears about the GOP as a party in terms of the leadership is exposed by Trump. They have an ever dwindling window to show the American people that the GOP stands for something that's a real contrast to the vision of the Democrats. The GOP should really be the party of smaller Federal Government in terms of how it affects us on a personal, legal, business level. But it appears the GOP Leadership is really about big government their way. Something that the base must fix or their current will diminish.

Trump will take the blame, but not because of his actions so much as their own.

You can't just elect a ****ing moron and hope he fixes everything. There's a reason that the GOP aren't all willing to run off the cliff with Trump. You just aren't able to see it so you blame it on them being big government. The republicans had intelligent people running for president like Rand Paul or Ted Cruz who would have gotten much more accomplished than the big nothing burger that Trump has. But they just fell in love with that used car salesman.

Unfortunately the result of failure by the party for a bigger federal government will likely mean a shift of "independents" to support the party for a huge federal government. Thus we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

To admit that you think this is like birtherism is to admit you're utterly unfamiliar with the details and have no interest in finding out.

That (bolded above) assertion is based on, exactly, what? Those guys are now in a position to introduce bills and to solicit support for them - yet what has that accomplished? Herding congress critters from either outside or inside of that herd is getting very hard to do and the reason is simple - what we now have gets them re-elected at over a 90% rate. You can't easily convince congress critters that changing what works (for them) is a risk worth taking.

They have a history of actually supporting limited government ideas, they actually understand how the government works, they wouldn't be constantly buried under scandal after scandal etc. etc.

Plus common sense.

If the Left BELIEVES he won't accomplish much, then they should be very pleased. Instead, they run around Like chickens with their heads cut off.

A limited government idea is to repeal PPACA yet that is off the table. The new republicant plan of AHCA is far from limited government - it is an attempt to maintain a new federal entitlement but to pretend to give the states more control over spending what the federal government gives them. Why not simply say that the states must fund what spending they control and be real about "states rights"?

That's off the table because it isn't possible. You'd need 60 votes in the senate. Plus you'd have to get rid of pre-existing conditions coverage. It's simply not gonna happen regardless of president. A public option or single payer would have been better than ObamaCare but we got what we could get. You can't pretend like that one thing is all I was discussing. Trumps idiotic behavior is slowing down attempts at any number of other legislative agendas such as tax reform.

Too bad Ted Cruz and Paul Rand couldn't take the nomination because of the way the Republicans treated Obama (and us.)

Everything I liked about him is still true.

He actually wants to DO SOMETHING.

Unfortunately, the right-wing nuts, the courts, the media, the Democrats and the Corporate Rulers are slowing him down.

Guess what?

They can slow him down, but they can't stop him.

I know you won't believe me when I say this Mags, but I don't really care at this point.

I'm not really scared of Trumps "agenda". Want to lower taxes? Fine. If it doesn't work we can raise them up down the road. Want to get rid of some regulations? Fine. There's probably quite a few that need to be gotten rid of and if he gets rid of some that we actually need we can put them back later. Wants to build a wall or deport illegal immigrants? Not what I would do but I don't think he's hitler. And we can revert course later if need be. Etc Etc. Gut Obamacare? Ok. Terrible idea but Republicans will own it and when medical bankruptcies go back up and people with pre-existing conditions an't get the care they need without losing their houses then the nation will again want a change and it will probably go much further than just ObamaCare.

What is worrisome about Trump is his inability to tell the truth and his lack of want to educate himself. He's not even remotely interested in how the world works. His ignorance and his inability to question what he's told is terrifying. For ****s sake, who puts someone as national security advisor without ever checking into whether he had the proper security clearance or not. And when it's pointed out to him he blames the last president like a petty little twat. Trump is a small man terrified of being seen as weak or ever having made a mistake. Him having the nuclear codes and him thinking that he can launch attacks on other countries with no repercussions is terrifying. He's not mentally equipped for the job. It should be painfully obvious to everyone by now. I'd drag my nuts over broken glass to have Ted Cruz or Mike Pence as president right now. Trump is bad for the country. And every day he's in office he's the equivalent of a drunk behind the wheel. Most days he is only going to swerve out of the lines a bit but one day he's going to run us into oncoming traffic.

The most concering things to be evident are a lacking experience and missing knowledge in the basics of foreign affairs and the way government works.

I like the public option idea but that in no way requires a federal takeover or mandate since adding such an option implies offering a voluntary choice.

Tax "reform" is unlikely to happen for several reasons. 1) a reduction in federal revenue must be "paid for" (by federal spending reductions?), 2) if it is called revenue neutral then it means cutting valuable deductions and shifting more of the tax burden down the pay scale and 3) the current system benefits many who fund congress critter campaigns.

The bolded is absolutely excellent, IMNSHO!

And if Indies, Republs, Conservatives, and Libertarians feel this way, just imagine how Dems, Liberals, and Progressives feel!

The hatred of Trump by Liberals and Dems that is often portrayed by Trump supporters as 'sour grapes', is actually perceived as very real fears and concerns on their part. Trump, the GOP, and his supporters, can overlook that at their peril. But Trump has energized liberals and Dems like nothing since Obama's campaign. And fear can be a very powerful motivator.

Rather than attempt to appease or quell those fears, even if only for political expediency, Trump seemingly revels in stoking them! And it might came back to bite him in the ass.

LOL! By stating that, and by claiming it's equivalent to birtherism, you're screaming from the rooftops that you don't understand the first thing about either, and you don't care to.

No biggie, some people are happy like that.
