He's an ass, a egomaniacal fool, a jerk, impulsive.
Yes, I like that the's pushing law and order in the immigration issue as much as he can, I like that he got someone at least at this point is an originalist leaning judge to replace the great Justice Scalia, I like his push of deregulating as much federal interference in business and the daily lives of Americans...
But he's impatient, he's flippant, he's too worried about what others say about him and he's abrasive for the sake of being abrasive.
I don't CARE about the stupid Russian thing, in terms of Trump being "influenced or controlled" or any of that ****. In fact, I think the biggest fault his compadres who did have Russian interactions with is that they saw opportunity for financial gain without considering the source of that money. Dealing with Russian business is just asking for trouble. All the other political manufactured BS is just so much Birther (and yes I get Trump was actually into that movement so the irony of him being subjected that same mindset is not lost on me) level logic and hype.
What I was really hoping was the GOP would embrace the chance to make some serious changes but it appears my worst fears about the GOP as a party in terms of the leadership is exposed by Trump. They have an ever dwindling window to show the American people that the GOP stands for something that's a real contrast to the vision of the Democrats. The GOP should really be the party of smaller Federal Government in terms of how it affects us on a personal, legal, business level. But it appears the GOP Leadership is really about big government their way. Something that the base must fix or their current will diminish.
Trump will take the blame, but not because of his actions so much as their own.
You know...when you refer to what the GOP stands for, it helps to realize that not everyone in the GOP actually stand for those things...at least, not according to their actions.
The GOP who put Trump in the White House DO stand for those things you mention, but the GOP who worked hard to prevent him getting to the White House don't. Those same GOP who worked against him are still working against him, especially those in both houses of Congress.
Now, Trump campaigned in part on "draining the swamp". He was referring to those GOP in Congress who say one thing and do another...with the aim of feathering their own political and monetary nests. These are the ones the base must deal with if the GOP has any hope holding to their Party standards. The problem the base has...and the reason Trump is having such a hard time...is that those GOP swamp dwellers are the ones with the power to make those changes...at least from a Congressional approach. The base...well, their only power is to boot those guys from office.
