Recording phone conversations, Oval Office conversations, and every interaction the POTUS has with others via a body mike. It's a matter of national security.

It would amaze me if they weren't. It would also amaze me if the conversations were not monitored in live real time.

SS is 20 ft away from "private" presidential conversations, and they should be.

Point being? And why do you assume that when I record a phone conversation I have with a business associate, that recording "belongs" to my employer? Doubtful.

And naturally Trump has no reputation left to lose. That said, if I had to gamble on who'd come out looking the worse in such a conversation, I know where my money's going.

Is there some reason we should assume you're subject to the Presidential Records Act? Otherwise what is the significance of your question to this issue? The Trump Tapes are public property.

That depends on the employer, and when the employer is the American people and the employee is the President of the United States, Federal recording keeping laws say that any such recordings are the property of the United States.
