Are some Trump followers unpatriotic?

I'm a "cold war baby" myself, but forgive me if I disagree.

In the first place, during the campaign Trump made it clear he wanted better relations with Russia. Russia today, despite Putin, is nothing like the Old Soviet Union. It has been radically (and in many ways problematically) Capitalized. It's a wide open market for western investors, and has a whole slue of home-grown "robber barons."

In the second place, I am neither surprised, nor overly dismayed, to recognize the new Russia is playing by some of the old Cold War rules only this time emulating our American propaganda and disinformation tactics. They didn't do anything we haven't done when it suited OUR national interests. I am more dismayed that our massive counter-intelligence resources weren't able to counter it more effectively. Guess they were too busy spying on other Americans.

Finally, it doesn't bother me as much as some people hope for two reasons. For one, if the information is true and something we should know in order to make an informed decision (like all the DNC leaks) then I don't care what the source.

The other is that while it had some effect, I don't think it was as deciding as people credit. IMO, Comey's actions were more harmful to the Left's candidate because we trust our own Agencies to tell us the truth (despite all past evidence to the contrary); and Hillary's own spotty history had already colored much opinion against her. Then there was her poor campaign style, and apparent illnesses.

Wow - we agree on just about everything.

Cold war - you seem to see this as static - I don't. Putin is former KGB officer and damn smart. I agree that all along our countries have been opposites in a paradigm of competition, using the same tricks in different ways. They do it and we do it. We have different explanations for our atrocities. But - Russia is openly committing them right now in the Crimea to regain land they lost at their weakest. We aren't occupying Iraq where our atrocities happened. This matters in a geopolitical sense.

Putin's agenda is not ours - they are not and never will be our friend. Putin wants a strong Russia so why try to strengthen their biggest competitor? Why would they want us strong? Why would they want us taking the same slice of world pie as they do - it makes theirs smaller. Our allies are always weaker than we are in some way. If a country is at the same strength, they compete to be king of every mountain.

Study the trends in the past century - England was a world power bigger than Russia last century. Now what are they? ISIS was born in the WWI when we destroyed the Ottoman Empire. WWII changed borders all around the world. The result of both of those events made the US a world power, and Russia too. This isn't about economics. Or just economics. It's about us becoming England. Russia, China and the US compete - our part of the triangle is getting weaker. No democracy has ever lasted more than 200 years - Russia is ****ing with our democracy when they even try to influence the vote. And they are doing it for Russia - not for us. Whether or not it influenced the election will be debated forever. Not my issue - it's them being able to interfere at all. Slippery slope, anyone?

I am not reliving the election - frankly, I liked Bernie so I am as pissed as anyone about Hillary and the Dems and I believe this is as much their fault as any, maybe more. I have other reasons to hate her and her candidacy, but you probably know what they are. The Libertarian candidate was a joke, and so was the Green. The choice was between two corrupt candidates - kinda like the US and Russia, and just as likely to become friends .

That doesn't mean I won't see and object to what I consider a rather appalling job so far. Trump is predictable, inexperienced, arrogant and narcissist. Not unusual, but more than most. He is also defensive and unwilling to learn or to listen to anyone out side his circle. My belief - Trump had a temper tantrum because he's thin skinned. Then they put out a story, throwing Rosenstein under th bus. Maybe Trump wanted to do what was right during the interview but it added up to throwing the rest of his people under the bus. That's a microcosm of everything wrong with what is going on.

Yeah - I am not gonna cry about supporters like that - more likely to laugh at the irony. And yes - a lot of intelligent consideration goes into the choice for some people. :peace

Its hard to keep track of the liberal outrage of the day, but it wasn't that long ago that liberals went berserk when someone questioned their patriotism. Are you saying its fair game to do that again, or is it only ok to question the patriotism of those on the right now?

Well, I'm glad to know that in just a few years, conveniently stopping somewhere in mid-2016, Obama managed to reduce our Greatest Geopolitical Foe to "meh" status...

it's probably less glaring and definitely less important than their other moral failings
