Trump signs order launching voter fraud investigation | TheHill

Funny how an investigation into Russian election interference is a complete waste of taxpayer dollars, yet investigating the ridiculous claim of 3-5 million illegal voters isn't. It is also quite interesting that citizen Trump heavily criticized Obama's use of EO's, but is perfectly fine with doing the same thing himself.

I can hardly wait to hear the creativity of the Trump supporters when they try and defend the latest Trump diversion..........:)

Just a few weeks ago Trump critics had the talking point of "what happened to the illegal voter investigation? Just another broke promise Trump made "

Now that he is doing it some folks are displeased with that.

This is the same crap republicans did for 8 years with Obama.

He wanted to create a diversion? Why did you fall for it?

Trumps selection of Kris Kobach makes this committee suspicious

I didn't "fall" for anything. I needed a good laugh today and Trump generally provides one on a daily basis. The only thing more comical than Trump's continued screw-ups, is the lame attempts of his supporters to defend them.............lmao

The call for such an investigation is a part of a two cup shill game.

The Trumper does not understand that 80% of Americans can easily follow the pea.

His lack of connection with reality is amazing.

I disagree with the 80% it's much lower. The public couldn't follow the pea well enough to give US a better showdown than Trump and Hillary. The country generally is too busy with flashy lights to see how bad they're being screwed.

Trumps selection of Kris Kobach makes this committee suspicious

Mr Kobach has a wee bit of a problem at the moment, a problem related to his attempts to suppress Democratic-leaning voters.
Federal judge rejects appeal, orders Kobach to hand over documents from Trump meeting

U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson on Wednesday upheld an earlier order from a federal magistrate judge requiring Kobach to hand over the documents to the American Civil Liberties Union as part of an ongoing voting rights lawsuit against his office.

Robinson, who is based in Kansas City, Kan., was appointed by President George W. Bush.

Kobach met with Trump in November and was photographed carrying a document labeled as a strategic plan for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The photograph revealed a reference to voting rolls. The ACLU has sought access to the documents, contending that if Kobach lobbied Trump on changes to federal voting law, it would be relevant to the case.

“When somebody fights this hard to keep documents away from us, it leads us to believe there’s something there and we need to see it,” said Doug Bonney, chief counsel for the Kansas chapter of the ACLU.

“The amount of energy that has gone into this fight is quite extraordinary, in my experience,” said Bonney, who noted that standards for discovery in lawsuits are lenient.

Kobach has argued that the documents are protected by Trump’s executive privilege. The judge rejected that argument, saying that “no court has ever recognized that this privilege applies before a president takes office.” Trump also did not assert his privilege in this case.

I am not an American but i support the investigation. Voter fraud by illegals is a serious thing, especially when one of the candidates was campaigning on giving amnesty. Trump did the right thing.

Who would know better about this than Kris Kobach? He's prosecuted election fraud cases.

But it is Trump against himself, his own worst enemy. Very easy to follow his dishonesty, so easy. Easy bigly.

I'm not sure why other issues are important to the question, but isn't it reasonable to make sure only those who can vote do and those who should not be aren't?

We have a great system, despite Trump's nonsense about illegal voting.

He has absolutely no proof of any significant impropriety in illegal voting.

It is ploy, a poor one, to distract attention from Russia and the election.

Well then you shouldn't worry about the outcome of such an investigation. ;)

I'll agree with you on the first part. Trump is trying to tie up resources to hinder the Russian investigation. As far as EO's go, Trump has to undo most of Obama's so naturally he will have a lot of EO's as well. If Obama hadn't done all of those partisan EO's then Trump wouldn't have to undo them.

There is also no proof of collusion with the Russians, but we are still investigating.

I am not worried about the outcome, because it is a poor deflection apropos of nothing.

Trump does not have any hesitation on wasting the country's treasure in protecting himself, which will fail him in the end.

Unsure what your point is besides trying to stir up "Trump supporters"?

There is more evidence of voter fraud than Russian interference in U.S. elections. That alone debunks your contention. I don't think anyone, whether they voted for Trump or not, wants to see the president continue talking out of both sides of his mouth, but by now it should be evident that what comes across as insincerity or inconsistency is part of a long-held negotiating tactic he has deployed which has yielded success in his business endeavors. (Nothing's ever really final until the deal has been signed.)

As far as executive orders go, do you have an issue with their use by a president, or do you just take issue with this president's use of EOs?
