Trump is taking strange steps for someone angry about the scandal. He keeps doing things that just increase the scandal. He fires the top guy in charge of the investigation and then while everyone is complaining about that he bans all media from his meeting with the Russians except the Russian state media. He is acting like he thrives on the scandal.
I think that gives him way too much credit. I've seen nothing to indicate he's that savvy, and all evidence indicates he's NOT that savvy. You could figure out 101 ways to make a media splash, without damaging your own credibility, or risking turning off your own party with the heat. He simply hasn't done things that nuanced. He's bungled so many things that he wanted kept OUT of the media. Remember too that he's furious about all the leaks, which are creating a lot of the media splash. No, he's simply in way over his head.
Remember, Trump didn't really think he was going to with the Presidency. He never really thought through all the what-ifs. If he's dirty, he's known that could be an issue since he was elected, did you see his face at the news of his election? He looked concerned more than anything. I think he's been an emotional basket case about where this is all going, if not because he knows he's going down at some point, because it's completely and totally out of his control and his capability to do anything about. He can't fill his staff positions, and those few he fills are...well, you know the types he's got in place...Flynn, oops, Kelly Conway, Exxon Big Energy #1, it's a wreck.
His big win was his campaign style, 100% emotional, nationalistic B.S., entirely false on fact checking but sure did whip up the rural folks.
Fortunately it seems you can't actually RUN the nation when that's the only trick in your bag. Thankfully. That would be more strange don't you think? That someone like Trump, given everything you know about him and what it takes to really run a good business and survive customer scrutiny and employee trust, etc., could actually run the nation? I think that would be the biggest stretch of the imagination. Too wordy, oops!
