Looks like a bogus AHCA vote is on its way. No worries though......)

obviously, the republican representatives were listening to what their constituents had to say (scream?) during the town hall meetings
[insert sarcasm icon of preference]

We can all be happy for Jason Chaffetz, who had a successful surgery on his 12 year old "preconditioned" foot, so that he can now Vote that other American Citizens can't.

The bill allows for 8 billion dollars to put forward to pre-existing conditions which is a hundred and thirty billion dollar bill. The top 10 states with an excessive amount of pre-existing conditions are all Trump States. Trump is screwing his own voters.

Trump is screwing his own party.
.....

Being pregnant or raped counts as pre-existing conditions apparently.

And congress are exempting themselves from the worst parts of the bill.

Not to mention, the bill hasn't been vetted by the CBO. Looks like they want to pass it through before CBO can show it'll lead to an increase of the deficit.

What exactly is this bill worth to republicans?

Looks like Ryan has gathered enough support to get Trump's garbage ACHA to a vote. No worries though, the bill will be DOA at the Senate.

So why schedule a vote? Many Republicans are running scared of the mid-terms and Trump badly needs a "pseudo" legislative win to brag about for a while. Then as usual, reality will sit in and Washington will again hand Trump's lying arse on a platter.

Well thank goodness that at least the GOP is transparent about what they're voting on and have had a bunch of hearings, had it scored by the CBO, and posted the language online so we voters can read the bill and decide for ourselves what it does.... oh wait, they didn't do any of that!

The most incredible/cynical thing I've seen in a while is the Upton amendment which adds $8 billion over 5 years to cover pre-existing conditions. It's a number Upton pulled out of his rear end - has to be because there is no scoring of the bill, no estimate of what is needed. And if the cost per person with pre-existing conditions is only $25,000 per year, that covers a grand total of 1,280 people on average per state. It's a pittance. And the sad thing is it assumes the public are a bunch of morons to buy that bull**** and that assumption is probably correct, at least for now.

A quick 'win' for Trump.

That's literally it.

At the expense of his own voters, mainly.

Why do I get the feeling if someone tried to explain the concept of a Pyrrhic victory to trump, he would think it had something to do with cats?

It's not at a great cost to him though. He's 70 years old and lives in a golden tower. He doesn't need health insurance, he never has. He'll never feel the brunt of the GOP's awful policy choices.

As long as he can spin it as a victory, and people lap it up, then in his eyes he's won.

It does not become law until it passes the senate and he signs it into law.

The problem with the ACA and pretty much everything the GOP has proposed to replace it is they do not one thing to address the root of the problem...the cost of medical care.

As long as the cost of care continues to rise so will the cost of coverage and there are only so many creative ways to slice a pie.
