Explain that position.

IMO, the excerpt lays out exactly how liberals can get caught up in defending Islam here in the West while ignoring or missing what is happening with Islam in Muslim majority nations further East.
 
The Liberals that treat Islam like that are not confused about Islam. They care more about their token groups as well as the destruction of "the patriarchy" and "American values".

I agree... The left does a very fine job of ignoring what Islam represents in the majority of the world. That's why I find it so interesting that the majority of those on the left seem to side with the Palestinians over Israel in that conflict.

I've come to the conclusion that while the majority of people pass judgement based on "right and wrong" and "good and evil" the way I do, most on the left do not. They look at situations based on "minority vs. majority", "weak vs. strong", "black vs. white", "not powerful vs. powerful", "poor vs. rich", etc... Judging whether a person is good or right for the left, is often times never a consideration when evaluating a situation.

Really, though, these F*** ISLAM posts have been done to death here. It usually goes: Hateful generalization --> Liberal outrage --> Conservative mocking --> Statistics refuting hateful generalization --> Summary dismissal of statistics because not aligned with hateful generalization --> rinse and repeat. If one has been on here for any amount of time, then one has seen the statistics presented, and chooses not to believe them. That's why there's no debate. The reality is, some people will simply choose to pick up on the worst elements of a demographic they want to hate, because it supports their hate, and if they can't find things, they'll invent them. Might as well have fun with those types, no? :)

All I see here that's written about Islam, is factual and free from vitriol.

Well if you had an ounce of reading comprehension you would realize I was talking about the western Liberals. But I guess I can't expect basic kindergarten skills from you. Also, there was no reason to click the link as someone literally posted the words in the second post. Guess you didn't click on the link, nor read the post. LOL!
 
This makes sense to me, I freaking hate organized religion. And Islam falls under organized religion. But I often do find myself trying to protect Muslims as a minority group here in the west. Maybe it boils down to I like Americanized Muslims and consider them inherently different from the rest and so feel compelled to defend them from people trying to lump them in with the whackos beheading people, and stoning women to death.

Maybe if we referred to people by country of origin, rather than faith, liberals and conservatives could see more eye to eye. So instead of a conservative criticizing Muslims for some honor killing, they criticize Iranians for the honor killing. Which I can get behind that. **** Iran.

Nah. The tweet was specifically about liberals in Muslim-majority countries, not about 'western Liberals'. What was posted in the 2nd post left out the title from the original tweet.

It's OK that you're trying to talk about something you didn't understand.

Sorry, I appear to have missed the "factual and free from vitriol" bit. All I saw posted was an excerpt from an opinion piece written in a book called, or by an author called, "the Atheist Muslim". I don't see the "facts", I see uncited opinion.

On the flip side, about 2 seconds on google found me the following, an article about the differences that exist in Muslim countries regarding the head dress of women, one of the most called out examples of Muslim conservatism. It goes to show that there is no generalization to be made, even in this flagship of issues, and so the assertion put forward in this article is false right out of the gates.

So, again, we have another article that generalizes the entire Islam world in the most negative light possible. If it's not an "F*** ISLAM" attitude intentionally, it's a pretty unfortunate coincidence that it appears as such.

I was responding to calamity's post right above mine. The full title of the piece was: Why liberals in Muslim-majority countries feel betrayed by (often well-intentioned) liberals in the West:
So not only are you clueless on what I was referring to, you are unable to read that liberals in the West is literally in the heading of the piece.
