Article Here.

President Trump during an interview that airs Monday questioned why the country had a Civil War and suggested former President Andrew Jackson could have prevented it had he served later.

"I mean had Andrew Jackson been a little bit later you wouldn't have had the Civil War. He was a very tough person, but he had a big heart," Trump said during an interview with the Washington Examiner's Salena Zito.

"He was really angry that he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War, he said, 'There's no reason for this.'"

Jackson, the nation's seventh president, died in 1845. The Civil War began in 1861.

Something liberal media, something something that's not what Trump really meant something something

He's absolutely right. There's one Andrew Jackson quote which I love.

"John Calhoun, if you secede from my nation, I will secede your head from the rest of your body."

I mean that Andrew Jackson would have crushed the secessionists by force of personality alone, not that there was no reason for the civil war.

Oh, okay. You scared me for a little bit there.

Jackson, on the Nullification Crisis in S.C. in the 30s, which also included noises about secession instead of mere "nullification" (just plain ignoring, basically) of federal laws:

"Yes I have; please give my compliments to my friends in your State and say to them, that if a single drop of blood shall be shed there in opposition to the laws of the United States, I will hang the first man I can lay my hand on engaged in such treasonable conduct, upon the first tree I can reach"

I said it and then I read it and then I read it again and then I realized how it sounded and corrected myself

How dare you? Trump's comments were about a state's right to secede from the union. Guess he's the only one who understands the Constitution and state's rights! Without slaves those white Southerners would've had to pay for a labor cost. I guess you're for hampering economic growth. That's why liberals will never understand economics. It's always take my slaves away from me, no dumping toxic sludge in water supplies, liberals just don't understand!

Joking response aside,

Instead of golfing every weekend Trump needs to hire a governess to teach him U.S. history and World History. There is absolutely no snark or wit in that suggestion. It's clearly been awhile since he had history or thought about history, and it's showing.
