Democrats are still rushing to extremes

I'm so pissed at what unchecked liberalism has done to this once amazing state, I doubt I can be completely objective. I am more convinced than ever it is doomed. I don't see anything being done to change the trajectory the Progressives have welded the controls to follow.

As to where I plan to move, I am actively looking at a couple of states. My standard is not whether it's a liberal state or not, so the Pacific Northwest is not out of the question. I'm also looking very closely at the Reno/Sparks area. No income tax is a nice side benefit to living there, but it's not a deal breaker. I am really humbled by the success I've had, and as a result, I don't have to worry about income or any of those things. At this stage it has more to do with what I leave behind after the wife and I are gone.

It does look like CA is intentionally on a path that's entirely dedicated to ensuring the dominance of one political party dependent on demographic changes.
It's true of not only CA, of course, but it's most obvious there.
Running a State that way isn't healthy.

Not only unhealthy, but fatal.

Consider the latest tax increase signed into law by Brown yesterday. After stealing money from the highway fund for years, they pass a massive tax increase via gasoline taxes, and increase fees for car registration.

And the amazing thing is, 80% of the money goes to the general fund, even though they called it a transportation/infrastructure bill.

With huge increases to be felt by the trucking industry, does anyone believe the ports won't be impacted?

It's like they are firing rounds into a dead corpse. How long will it be before they recognize they killed the patient?

Though said live on MSNBC, the mainstream media has not reported Maxine Waters (S-CA) claim that Jason Chaffetz is basically an agent of the Russian government.

Perhaps we need a Congressional Investigation on this.

Slander is illegal when not spoken on the floor of the congress.

Seems like this slanderous, lying moron should be tried and convicted on this outrageous charge.

Serious question ... are there are still enough local pockets of sanity in that State that recognize what's happening and could start to turn it around?

Serious answer. No.

If you look at the voting patterns, you can see that geographically, most of the state is not as extreme as the population centers. However, plug in those population centers and the massive influence of the public sector labor unions, and there is no chance a less tragic direction could be successful.

The creation of the Nations most Nanny of Nanny states has resulted in a population dependent on the government. That's how Hillary got all of the popular vote, and then some, from just one state.

Now, with millions of illegal aliens benefitting from the Progressives open door/reward policies, the lock on political agendas will become even stronger.

There are only two industries that are feeding the giant in Sacramento. Tech, and Hollywood. Either one of those falters, and the house of cards crumbles. California will not survive another Dot Com debacle, as it has become addicted to the tax revenue Silicon Valley and Hollywood fills it's veins with. A recent study showed @ 5600 people in 2015 provided 30% of the income tax revenue to the state.

The worst part of the whole thing is, California doesn't operate in a bubble. When it falls apart, the rest of the Nation is going to feel it. It's clear to me the politicians in Sacramento don't care, as they will have been justly rewarded for their "service" and moved on, leaving the rubble for someone else to deal with.

Maxine isn't doing anything differently than the Mainstream Media, itself, is doing...except, maybe in degree. She's making **** up...spouting out stuff that comes into her tinfoil-hat-wearing head.

In saner times, she would receive the ridicule from the media that she deserves, but these are not saner times. The Mainstream Media is happy to spread her spew. It gives them a break.

I have dealt with Maxine Waters personally for many, many years. She is worse in private. Maxine Waters personifies everything that is wrong with politicians, and with the causes she pretends to be concerned with.

It's astonishing to me that anyone in public, or private for that matter, would want anything to do with her.

It is little wonder that Waters is calling for Trump's impeachment, he represents a direct threat to her power as an establishment politician.

A quick Google search shows you just how corrupt she really is / appears to be.

Yes, those 2 industries feed the giant, but you can't forget that one of the Country's 3 cheerleading major media industries is located there too. They contribute enormously to the perpetuation of failure.

Coulda stopped reading after "The state’s recovery has won plaudits from such respected figures as The American Prospect’s Harold Meyerson and the New York Times’ Paul Krugman." but I didn't.
Of course the green non-profit advocacy groups and the media will celebrate California’s comeback as proof that strict regulations and high taxes work.
And there it is ... rah-rah.

And yet, her constituency keep voting her back to DC for some unfathomable reason. She ranks right up there with Pelosi and Sheila Jackson Lee as far as utter stupidity spilling out of their mouths.

Let the kook left continue to rally around her. It will only guarantee that liberals continue to lose more house/senate seats. It'll further alienate them from the less radical democrats.

I think that is a bit of an overkill. An in depth psychiatrc evaluation will determine the sanity or lack thereof of Maxine Waters and possibly generate a prescription for the medication she needs to help her ease back into reality.

We pray for her.

A few years ago I considered moving my manufacturing business into her district. I met with her, and her minions a few times as part of that effort. Full disclosure, I loth Maxine Waters, but business is business. What I learned from those meetings is that everything I thought about her in public was even worse in private. It made me wonder who actually is doing her work, and how she is able to think and breath at the same time. Clueless would be a complement.

I did see a video of Pelosi, if that is what you are referring to. Like Waters, Pelosi personifies what is wrong with California, and why it is doomed. I am sustained by the knowledge I will be moving out of California in the coming years and will be able to watch it's demise from afar, rather than from my front yard.
Our family business moved from SoCal to Texas a couple years ago... also a mfg business. I'm not involved with it, but dropped in last winter, and it's been a great move for everyone.

Quality of life for the employees, way lower taxes and cost of living... and a really business friendly environment.

Twenty five years ago, one could almost make the same claim about California. Cost of living has always been high because it has been a great place to live.

No longer.

The one issue that has got to keep the Progressives running the state awake at night is home values. Because of low property tax percentages, home values are sky high when compared to other states. If that begins to collapse, the state will be devastated. It's a caged beast few want to talk about. But when policy drives the people with talent and money out of the state, who is going to be left to pay the high prices for homes? What businesses will be paying $100k in compensation, a bench mark to housing purchase affordability. There comes a point when you flip your final house, cash out, and move out of state.

Guess you don't read the news much. Billo doesn't have his job anymore. Besides I don't care to learn how to sexually harass people. Thanks though.

We yet have to learn the full story about O'Reilly... and you've got a very selective memory, as you folks know all about sexual harassment and aggressively defending a sexual predator. Then, you actively support a presidential candidate who was the Lead Doberman in the Bimbo Eruptions Deptartment... a Department out to seek and destroy.

Yep, I recall the days when CA was still a fairly business friendly state.

The entire clan has moved out of the state now... adult kids too, to FL, TX... it just didn't make sense to stay, as much as everyone loved SoCal.

That's exactly where we are today.

I've sold my business which has some wrap up yet to do to complete. The buyers are moving the operation to the Reno area.

Sadly, my previous business, sold some years ago, closed down my original manufacturing facility and expanded the second one I built in Indiana to handle the production.

Between the two, over 200 California jobs lost to the insanity of the Progressives running the state.

We're on a 5+ year plan to leave the state.

For me, it's a bitter pill. My family goes back almost 150 years in Southern California.

Agreed.

In retrospect, its really kinda funny, really. The much predicted and much insisted upon GOP civil war, factions breaking apart, seems to have manifested itself in the Democrat party and not the GOP. Once again, all the bad things that the Democrats claim of someone else occurs more so in their own party.

Makes one really wonder when one considers how often and loudly the Democrats accuse others of racism, sexism, homophobia, islamophobia, etc. etc. if they aren't just reflecting what they see in their own ranks.
