Coulter's speech at Berkely cancelled... again.

View attachment 67216885
here was the post which caused me to ask whether the student group possessed the authority to extend an invitation to coulter [my emphasis added so the point is not again missed]:

that student group extended the invitation yet it did not have the authority to direct the available law enforcement staff to secure the event. nor did it have the ability to secure a designated speaking venue

that student group is responsible for this situation fubar. it did not timely notify the administration that the invitation had even been extended. yet the reich wing insists it is the administration that is being irresponsible because it refuses to endorse a speaking engagement whose security it is unable to assure

blame the victim, make excuses for scum bags

you harken back to the 'free speech zones' established by dicknbush so that the media and attendees of events over which dubya presided did not have to witness and hear the questions and comments from those opposed to the actions of that inept regime
good call

I have no idea what you are talking about.

blame the victim, make excuses for scum bags

see, like coulter, you and your side would very much want to pretend she is a victim; someone denied her first amendment rights

but the reality is the student organization responsible for inviting coulter dropped the ball. it failed to obtain the campus administration's consent to arranging and securing a venue for coulter to speak. in short, those young republicans were responsible for this fubar. and unsuprisingly, the reich wing now refuses to acknowledge that the republican student organization is responsible for this dilemma

Should anyone really be surprised that young republicans would be so incompetent when it comes to organizing such an event?

They obviously take their lead from the example of their aged counterparts, who are ever-demonstrating their inadequacies...
Whether it be failing to govern in Congress; failing to lead in the White House; or failing to educate themselves as voters to the extent that they might avoid disastrous outcomes (like enabling Trump to assume the mantle of the executive).

The only core competency for most republicans resides in whining... an activity these students seem to be excelling at.

are you unaware of the massive threats of violence or are you ignoring them so you can whine about the GOP and Coulter?

translation-HIllary lost and you are still upset

good. you acknowledge the threats to coulter making a public presentation on the berkeley were valid
so, let's now apply some of that advanced ivy league education
the campus administration also recognized the possibility of that threat of mayhem during her proposed speech
and sought to change the date of her speaking engagement to a later time when adequate security could be provided
now, hopefully, you can see that the reason the administration opposed her initial date to speak was because of fears for her safety and the safety of those who showed up to listen to what she had to say
i am typing this slowly - please read it slowly and absorb what is posted: this has NOTHING to do with denying coulter her first amendment right of free speech

translation: you had no rebuttal to the posted argument and thus attempted to deflect the coversation

there is no argument in favor of threatening violence by radical assholes just because they have been told they should not like Coulter

lol...you of course miss the whole point. When you poke a stick into a hornet's nest, you shouldn't be surprised when you get stung. Going to Berkley to push a RW agenda is like holding a pro-abortion rally at a Baptists church.

True, would be better though if Berkley were not just as intolerant.

and this time you are correct. there is no one in this thread arguing on behalf of those who would threaten violence
while you were correct, your post still tells us that you continue to miss the point

There is far more indication that this is what happened instead of some fabricated narrative that Berkeley is purposefully trying to exclude all alt-right, far-right speakers.

Not at all Justabubba. I don't think you can post an issue that I would "miss the point" on

and that should surprise no one who reads your posts

Matchlight's Response - You inability to express your views intelligibly is your shortcoming. Lame attempts to insult me will not improve it.

Thank you for your scads of thoughtful and valid points throughout this thread! You consistently demonstrate impressive ability to express your views intelligently.

Previously I had taken issue with Matchlight's dubious claim of superior intelligence and intellect over any of the Liberals/Progressives he had met in the real world or interacted with here in DP. I wondered if he truly believed himself?

IMO, his arrogance and lack of humility in making such a claim results from self-delusion and blissful ignorance. Most Morons deem themselves intelligent.
