It actually is pale, most of irans executions are drug traffickers, child molesters and rapists and murderors. Saudi arabias execution list is much more lenient on what it deems acceptable of the death penalty.
 
i really don't understand this "islam being islam" as if no other religion has ever acted this way. For most of christian europe's history they did the *exact* same thing, this country had sodomy laws less than 15 years ago and then there's true ****holes like uganda to this day

This selectivism crap makes no sense. It's hardly a love affair with islam, aside from politicians like hillary wanting their vote. Our problem is with the revisionist christian superiority complex on the right wing. It's more like "religion being religion"

Yes and anti gay rhetoric and laws in this country are by far plotted by christian organizations like the AFA and FRC, not the small muslim minority. So it stands to reason where we have a voice, that's where it will be directed

Also, iran is despised by the entire west. This just adds another reason is all. Certainly not the case with the christian extremists in this country, who run entire state governments like texas

In fairness, it says same sex relationships with people under the age of 18...or in other words, adults, having sex with minors. And since the primary purpose appears to be targeting HIV positive people in a country with a devastating and growing HIV problem it may be done more as a public safety act than an act of discrimination.

Killing people with HIV is public safety now? That's the same kind of "rationalization" which sees people get murdered for being "witches" in Africa every year.

Hell, that's just legally. The handleful of people who are openly gay in Uganda are pretty much in constant fear that a ravening mob is going to crash through their door and try to burn them at the stake.

killing adults that have a high prevalence of having HIV that are targeting minors is NOT = to 'killing people with HIV'. Young women aged 15-24 are among the highest in the country that are contracting HIV, second only to sex workers. Perhaps their reasoning is that an adult with HIV targeting a child is giving the child a death sentence.

I don't think you understand the way they broke the "offenders" down here. The law would give the death penalty to;

1)Repeat offenders(i.e. gay people caught being gay more than once)

2) HIV positive people caught having same sex relations with another person

3) people caught having same sex relations with those under 18.

It's not really the same thing as the scenario you laid out.
 
Bottom line.... it is none of our business.

Its exactly what I pointed out. People with a deadly disease placing others at risk. They are battling an epidemic. Doesnt sound like they are targeting gays...the premise you were trying to support.

Actually, it seems you totally missed point 1; repeat "offenders". Under this law, ypu could literally be sentenced to death if you are gay and they think you've had sex more than once.

That's a pretty clear cut case of targeting gays to me.

Still seems to me that their intent is not to find persecute and kill homosexuals. But congrats. You are convinced 1 of the 78 countries that ban homosexuality and has a death penalty for homosexuals that are responsible for infecting others is not Muslim.

Well let's see. If you'd bothered to read the thread you would have noticed that Volsrock had proclaimed that no non Muslim countries have the death penalty for homosexuals. I proved otherwise.

"Aggravated homosexuality" was defined to include a same-sex sexual act: with a person under the age of 18; committed by a person who is HIV-positive; by a parent or guardian of the person with whom the act is committed; by a person in authority over the person with whom the act is committed; the victim of which is a person with a disability; by a serial offender; or by a person who administers any drug, matter, or thing with the intent to stupefy or overpower another person to enable a same-sex act to be committed. A person charged with "aggravated homosexuality" would be forced to undergo an HIV test. A person who attempted to commit "the offence of homosexuality" could receive imprisonment for seven years. A person who attempted to commit "aggravated homosexuality" could receive life imprisonment.
