Well, Governess, I hope you don't ever make the mistake of calling Ann Coulter a "moron" again. You sure got a tongue lashing from people.

Anyway, ignoring all the whiny finger wagging at The Governess, I'm glad that they reversed their decision on Coulter's speaking engagement. I don't care for her message much of the time because she's a professional provocateur, like Al Sharpton and Rush Limbaugh and some others. But she has a right to share her views with anyone who wants to hear them. I get why they cancelled but I'm glad it's been rolled back, and she's a big enough grown up to decide if there is any danger to her presence or not.

Many folks seem to hate her so she must have incited that hatred.

A university should be a marketplace of ideas. I once attended a debate between Nobel Prize-winner William Shockley and a Dr. Goldsby. Shockley, who in addition to believing he could prove that blacks were genetically inferior also came up with the idea for a "genius sperm bank" (which, BTW, produced perfectly average offspring, LOL), was destroyed on stage by logic within ten minutes.

Yes, his argument was heinous. Nobody protested his appearance or was outraged by it; we all saw the debate as a tremendous opportunity. And it was memorable. Here I am all these years later talking about it. Why should anybody be askeered of a contrarian opinion?

I'm not a fan, but I've never thought she "incited hatred". It's just more of that whiny triggered snowflake "everyone who disagrees with far left kookism is a racist" garbage.

Please show me exactly where in my 10,000+ posts on DP I specifically said that any of those names should be disinvited from speaking at college campuses. Show me the post.

You and everyone who liked your blatantly dishonest post are attacking a position I categorically did not take.
Speaking of dishonesty, I didn't say you "specifically" said any such thing. What you did do is imply that all conservative speakers - or at least the ones run off campuses - are "highly obnoxious trolls."

But if you're admitting that you, er, obnoxiously painted with far too broad of a brush, then we're all cool.

So long as it works it will continue.
