DO you think that the Committee's investigating the possible Trump Russian connections need to see the Trump tax returns to finish their job? It would seem to me that without the tax returns the investigators could not know if there was a financial connection between Trump and the Russians.

No. I would think if the investigators need a tax return, then they are not very good at what they do.

I think it's within congresses' rights to subpoena the returns. Both committees (house and senate) are led by Republicans loyal to Trump, however. Since the revelation that Trump and his team were under investigation, both investigations seem to have shut down. My prediction: If either investigation yields anything unfavorable to Trump, we won't hear about it until at least after the mid-terms. If the results are favorable, we should hear about them right away.

P.S.: You're pretty stingy with giving "likes" on this board!

The FBI is conducting its own investigation. And from James Comey's past behavior, he likes to swoop in and play the hero. If there's dirt on Trump, he will hand down indictments. In the meantime, he's got Jeff Sessions as his boss, and who knows what Trump is telling Sessions to do.

Yeah but Sessions had to recuse himself from the Russian/Trump team connection. How influential can Sessions really be?

He still runs the Department of Justice. Who knows. I don't have the straight dope on government bureaucracy. Who gets ran over by the bus and who does the chucking.

I don't think Comey is afraid of Sessions. He sure wasn't afraid of Lynch.

I also don't think Comey is beholden to politics. I think he genuinely cares, if there was law breaking, those responsible will be brought to justice. In that sense he's way more objective than our primary source of "intelligence", Republican and Trump toadie, Nunes.

What I meant was - If Comey disagrees with a direct order from Sessions, I think he'll do what he wants (right or wrong).

I don't have that much respect for Comey. If he was willing to reveal that HRC was under investigation prior to the election why didn't he also reveal that Trump was under investigation as well?

That's a good question. The HRC email scandal was common knowledge. The Trump-Russian collusion was not. You had some speculation based on Trump hiring Manafort and slobbering over Putin as a strong leader, implying that Trump would rather Putin than Obama, Who says that? But, you had not all the forces of politics beating down your front door. Honestly, its hilarious now, Trump is getting a dose of instant karma for the "Lock her up!" chants. As well as when he belligerently called for the Russians to hack his political opponent in the General Election. Who does that?

Well he had to know the political effect of putting a cloud over HRC while early voting was going on in several states. My "tin hat" theory for Comey not revealing the Trump investigation is that Comey is now owed a favor by Trump. This is something to hold over Trump's head, i.e., Trump would be wise not to fire Comey.

The only people that 'need' Trumps tax returns are childish liberals who still haven't gotten over the last election.

I can't believe you don't see any conflicts of interest, that would be cleared up by his tax returns. There's nothing to be scared of, if Trump has nothing to hide.

I just learned how to do it. My eyes weren't good enough to read the small thumbs up in the left corner.

Seems like a somewhat of a strange question. If they need it they can get it. Pretty sure they can't be blocked from getting them.

Yo don't want to know if he owes a lot of money to the Russians like his son said in 2008?

What conflicts do you see that his tax returns will clear up for you?

I would most like to see if Trump is invested in Global Energy Capital. I think the endgame is to run a for-profit presidency by squeezing as many points out of the energy industry as possible. I would also like to see if Trump is invested in any energy interests at all. I'd like to see if he's invested in any defense companies. But, Global Energy Capital, would be the most damning. I would also like to see if Trump is still connected with Bayrock and Deutsche Bank.

I'm not a liberal and I don't need Trump's tax returns. But him refusing to release his tax returns makes him a liar, as he promised previously to release them after the audit was finished. But we've been since told he's never going to release them, even after an audit, so that would make him a liar.

And lying is childish, in my opinion.
