The rise of the alt-right movement has many people nervous about the spread of neo-Nazi sympathies – and the furry community is apparently not immune to these political trends.In shocking news, the Rocky Mountain Fur Con, the annual event that brings together furries, has been canceled after a splinter group known as the Furry Raiders came under fire for embracing 'altfur' symbols similar to those of Nazis and fascists.
The chairman of the event posted a message on Twitter saying that the Furry Raiders have started to promote intolerance within the furry community.

It is actually kinda sad. An event a bunch of people where looking forward to was cancelled because of skyrocketing costs due to a few people acting like douches. I am not surprised you would find humor in unfortunate events.
 
Unfortunately, I know a significant amount about this and frankly, the non-Raiders blew this ridiculously out of proportion and deserve everything they get. This is what happens when the regressive left freaks out.

They are getting played by 4channers, also the douche that is doing this is a known kiddie diddler. The answer wasn't to cancel, but to ban this douche and any of his ilk from the event. So yeah, I'm mocking a self inflicted pain.

Furries are anthropomorphic animal characters, meaning they have human qualities or characteristics, that can be any member of the animal kingdom - including the non-furry ones.

After reading the article it kinda does look like they were behaving and looking like nazi facists.

Your right, I'm not a furry, And my knowledge is fleeting as to it's inner workings. I have read enough on this to laugh at them though.

If they're pretending to be people pretending to be animals, don't we have to consider the possibility they're pretending to be Nazis? If they're not pretending to be furries, I would think furries, of all people (so to speak), should understand the right to expression no matter how unpopular.

They're not pretending to be Nazis. They are just being ACCUSED of being Nazis by the social justice warriors. In fact, the only ones who declared their willingness to commit violence were the SJWs.

As long as they're not pretending to be fuzzies. That's the important part. If they're fuzzies, they should have their participation. Perhaps there could be a vote for what clubs attend if it's not open to the public.

Do the SJWs self identify as SJWs, or is that just a strawman to oppose the Nazis?

I think there could be Nazi furries. What about Jihad furries and evangelist furries. Diversity is key. Furries should be inclusive and stop marginalizing beliefs no matter how stupid and ridiculous.

Driving flawed beliefs and deplorable dogma underground only keeps it alive. In the open and criticized, such garbage will more quickly be swept into the dustbin. Cockroaches in the light, ya know. Euro laws against expression are unconstitutional and counter-productive. Hate speech laws should be, as in the US, restricted to real threats.

Except you just argued the opposite of that. How exactly can a group be inclusive of beliefs and then mock and undermine those beliefs, it the same thing as banning them they will just form an underground group where they are accepted.

Mocking and openly undermining is fine. That's also free speech. I just say don't exclude the Nazis. I'm not suggesting Nazis should be free from criticism or open attempts to lower membership.
 
A bunch of fur babies upset that one of their own refuses to goose march in step with the group.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was another reason behind canceling the FurCon event and the organisers are scape goating someone they don't care for.

Kinda seems this group looks down on expressing yourself in some ways.

If someone shoes up not on costume declaring themselves TransFur would they be welcomed in or discriminated against?

The overwhelming majority of people going to furry cons are not in costume, BTW.
