Why leave the runway intact?

Still suffering from that case of butt hurt you developed after your chosen one Hillary lost I see. Hopefully the pain is at least easing

Hillary? Are you pretending that Hillary Clinton has something to do with this thread, or are you just recycling the same empty, meaningless cliche you've been parroting since election day? Because, you're the last. Even the most dim-witted Trumpistani has stopped spewing that bilge and moved on. Well, everyone except the most dim-witted, I guess.

Really don't know. Awaiting some kind of explanation myself.

Read war history, especially the Pacific Theater and bombing air strips. It is simply takes too much ordinance to damage a runway for any length of time, it's a waste of money as the runway is basically a flat road that can utilize any cover. Early in the war the Chinese laid bamboo after being bombed, in some of the remote islands the Japanese forced locals to march and stamp down jungle for air strips.

Instead, they go after the tech stuff, power infrastructure, tech equipment and especially communications and fuel.

In 60 minutes? Won't happen.

From the drone video it looked like most of the aircraft were parked safely just off to the side of the main runway...that we now know was never a target.

With over 200 personal on or near such a small base...it would probably only take 15 to 20 minutes at most to taxi 10 to 20 jets off the runway...where'd they knew they'd be safe.

That makes sense, thanks.

My initial response to the air strike was it appeared to be the least bad option available to Trump. I didn't even fault him for warning the Russians. It isn't ideal but killing Russian soldiers would have been worse by far.

But why spare the runway? Why use non-cratering munitions? The only reason I can think of is because the Russians use that runway as well and destroying it would be inconvenient for them.

I am open to alternative theories.

I think the main point was to send a message, not actually engage in a strategically sound move. If we wanted the latter, we wouldn't have warned anyone and hit a bunch of parked aircraft instead. Those take a while to build.

Unless acted upon quickly, with follow-thru, the message will wear off and become a thing in the past. There was no plan to back up this action. If so, it had better happen now, or the effect will wither away, quickly.

It's not my fault you came recognize the butt hurt displayed from so many on the left. Sounds like a personal issue

Recognize? Hell, son, you're positively enamoured by the term. Use it in conversation a couple times a day, I don't doubt, and mutter it like a mantra at odd moments.
