Despite growing opposition to Ivanka's new WH position, Trump has NOT done a flip flop on this issue. In a 2006 interview with Larry King, Trump said the he actually likes nepotism. Further stating that if you can't take care of family members, then who can you take care of. Obviously, Trump has carried that philosophy full throttle to the Office of the Presidency. Sad, but not overly surprising given that virtually none of Trump advisory staff have any government experience whatsoever and an abysmal approval rating to go along with it.

Here is a quick definition:
"Nepotism is the practice of favoritism based on kinship, like when the coach chooses his own kid to be the quarterback even if his kid stinks at football."

From what I have seen of Trumps kids, they seem like a very bright, and level headed crew. If Ivanka is the Trump Whisperer that can keep the guy semi-rational for the next 4 years, then I am fine with her being there.

If you need a son or daughter around you to keep you "semi-rationale", then you have no business being president. That said, her lack of government experience and her possible ethics issues will null out any possible gains.

Despite the fact that I oppose nepotism, and I don't agree that Trumps older boys are necessarily level headed and bright given some of the things they've said, I see Ivanka as most likely being a moderating voice in his ear and so I am inclined to agree with the latter of your assessment and I actually, fully endorse her position in the Administration.

The truth is we're past that mark, and the Republican congress it not going to take any significant steps against Trump over this, or any other transgressions he may make, he is president and that's not going to change anytime soon, Ivanka has never appeared to have had a negative persona to any degree, she actually seems like an incredibly smart and accomplished person and as long as she can be a voice of moderation to Trump, since he's not going anywhere, although nepotism is bad, I have no choice but to believe it is not a negative that she will be close to him during his administration.

Please. Ivanka has no ethical issues. And yes, Trump seems to need someone around to keep him semi-rational. That should be obvious by now.

I hate to agree, but at this time, the downside of her not being there seems worse.

Please. The country doesn't need a POTUS that needs someone around him to 'keep him semi-rational'. That should be obvious to any rational adult.

You're right, but unfortunately he IS the POTUS, and that's unlikely to change anytime soon, so you can make that statement until you're blue in the face, but the alternative to Ivanka is possibly another Bannon type, so, I think it's something we should be able to live with.

Yeah, but its too late for that isn't it. That should be obvious to any rational adult as well.

I can't understand why people find it awful and almost treasonous that a person would trust the advice and assistance of the people in their own family. I guess those folks must have a really screwed up families?

It's only truly nepotism if the family member gains from the job. Ivanka and her husband are worth hundreds of millions of dollars. If anything, they are losing money by working for the government, just as Robert Kennedy did by serving his as his brother's Attorney General.

Yes but the Kennedys are wonderful

Or creating a new political dynasty that puts America first.

Sure easier on the eyes than Chelsea Clinton.

The Trump administration is making the first Clinton administration look it was the Lincoln Cabinet.

"Full Throttle" meaning what exactly? "Favoritism" meaning what here? There is Ivanka who is volunteering her time to be his personal aid, there is her husband who likewise is gaining power but who is not advancing his income by serving us but is rather giving most of it up, neither very well suit the definition of nepotism...who else?

This is another Nothing Burger, seeing the BS arguments and assertions that Americans take seriously now is greatly damaging my faith in humanity.

I wish people would cut it out.

Her and Jared already have ethics issues and more are materializing every week. When BOTH fully divest, we can talk again. Until then, you are just supporting the same behavior that you would have screamed "bloody murder" about had BIll Clinton been back in the White House.
