I am an independent I have voted Demo and Repub. over the years... I always thought the GOP loved this country and did not trust the Russians more than any American party ,,, but the way they have been dealing with Russia and Trump ..I thing they are putting the party before our beloved country...I thought the protection of our country came first... then party and so on... am I wrong??? and I really expected more from Sen McCain... what do you think???

I always thought that in democracies voters elected parties to act to the voters' benefits. So why shouldn't they?

The GOP party has been against this country for years. In almost every state they have taken control of they haave gerrymandered to such an etent that there is no longer one man one vote rule. It shoud have given you a hint at what was to come. Remember Trump asking the Russians to keep hacking the Dems. That should have also given you a hint at party over country.

It looks alike a good 98% of Republicans in Congress have decided to put party interests above country. There are a few exceptions and McCain appears to be one... perhaps Susan Collins and Lindsay Graham in some of their statements as well.

When the Watergate scandal was riding high in 73 and 74, there were many honorable and principled Republicans who came forward and stood behind a full and open pursuit of truth even though it led to the end of a republican president and his administration.

We need that now and it looks doubtful if we are going to get it.

I was a bit taken aback when former Vice President and Darth Vader imitator Dick Cheney used the phrase AN ACT OF WAR in describing what the Russians did attacking our sacred democratic institutions. Maybe help will come from quarters completely unexpected?

Dick Cheney: Russian Election Interference Possibly '''Act of War''' - NBC News

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says Russia's alleged interference in the U.S. presidential election could be interpreted by some as an "act of war."

"There was a very serious effort made by Mr. Putin and his government, his organization, to interfere in major ways with our basic, fundamental democratic processes," Cheney said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "In some quarters that would be considered an act of war."

And if it was an act of war, and the Russian choice won , what do we all do about that?

I think few politicians put country ahead of themselves, and haven't expected much from McCain for a long long time.
