Armed communists, Show of force? Protest? you decide

I have a few takes on the protest.

1) I cannot recall an instance where a left-wing demonstration was opposed by a right wing armed resistance.
2) Why were the Communist protesters hiding their faces/identities?
3) Was the protest otherwise peaceful? Did they block access to the people they were protesting?

Finally, when all this is said and done, can a group which self-identifies as Communist be considered American? I think this is a more subtle question since the aim of any real Communist group would be to dismantle the structures and symbols of the United States. By definition, Communists would not approve of our representative form of government. They do not approve of our economic and social structures. They would, by definition, impede religious freedom which would directly contradict the 1st amendment and Jefferson's described "wall of separation" between church and state. So, is a group which would like to, in all literal manner, tear down the United States anything other than an insurgency group? Does the United States have an obligation to allow the freedom of protest to group who advocate the overthrow of the U.S. government? By the way, I don't have a real answer for this. It is a question which I do think needs some discussion. I think it expands to our tolerance, not just of Communist groups, but also, and probably more critical, to Islamic groups. Understanding the difference between Muslim people and Islam where Islam is a national identity which does not accept the separation between church and state, but demands obedience to the values of Islam. At what point is American society in need of protection from outside threats which seek to alter it at a minimum and completely destroy it at worst? Would we have allowed fascist groups, particularly from Axis nations, to protest in America during WWII? Again, I am not taking a side here yet. I do think the discussion needs to occur and this Communist group's protest is a nice springboard.

I'm not sure the communist antifa thug types here get what they were doing. any ideas?

:popcorn2:

Sort of like the freedom loving Right, gun carrying thugs, setting up checkpoints and pulling people over to check their papers.....

"....we are not to pull over civilians without, you know, reasonable cause...."

There have been serious threats made already, including a bomb threat.

Making a police report or any other noticeable fuss may just get them killed.

No wonder why they aren't complaining.

How about their poor gun handling skills, or maybe choosing an odd scope for your carbine?

I would also mock the idea that on thier website they call for a revolution...... are they not then approaching a dangerous with thier guns?

I bet one rich kid owns all those guns and let his little commie friends his toys for this "protest".

I bet they are airsoft!

I noticed how they were marching formation, at the ready. An accidental discharge in the right file and someone in the left file is walking with a limp for the rest of his life.

Where are the people that freaked over the Hannity and Williams show?

I always thought rednecks were conservatives.

Well, whatever or whoever they are...marching around like that with guns on public sidewalks is NOT cool.

Is being a Communist against the law in the US?

Is carrying a weapon?

So what you're suggesting is that the first and second amendments don't apply to communists.....or is it their skin color has you pissed?

I don't hold any of those position, reading this thread I posted I that they have the right to do this. Your disgusting insinuation that I am a racist, with no evidence or reason, is deplorable, and cheapens the very real issue of racism. Boy who cried wolf syndrome means when your ilk call people racist like this, it's dismissed and mocked.....

Then there was this patriot at an Obama rally in '08...

I'm familiar with the quote but I'm confused- is the guy saying he's willing to bleed or that the junior Senator from Illinois is a tyrant?

From the sign, I would say he believes that the the federal government is becoming tyrannical.

His own sign says clearly that he is a far right wing nut job advocating for violence and bloodshed against those he opposes politically.

But he was standing outside an Obama town-hall in New Hampshire I think it was. I suppose he could mean the government as a whole but if he wanted blood from the government, a candidate seems like an odd place to begin. President Bush was probably a long way from there.

*shrug* just like the communists it's his right, and it's our right on who we choose to mock and why..

When Conservatives do it it is a protest, when anyone else does it is a show of force. That is what I am observing with this case.

The difference is one group wants to take away all of the guns in American and the other one does not.
