Maybe Paul Ryan and the rest of the R's are against bipartisanship, but I don't believe Trump is.

If the D's were invited and refused, then yes they can be blamed for putting party over work product.

Did Trump whip the dems for votes? Did he call them? Invite them on Air Force one? To the White House? Did the GOP offer some kind of Buffalo Bribe to any of them to convince them?

I've not seen one report that suggests anything like that happened.

Would have loved to see Trump lead a 6-hour summit with the Dems to defend his bill and engage with the other side. The way Obama did, twice.

Oh wait, Trump didn't know what was in his bill.

It wasn't so cut-and-dried back then. There were conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans.
In fact, I doubt American society was ever as polarized as it is now.

Yep, typical Trumpian absurdity. He wrote off the Democrats, didn't bother to talk to a single one (so much for the "ultimate dealmaker,") knows for a fact that it died because the House Freedom Caucus screwed him. But they are "The Other," and he wants to reward Ryan's loyalty, thus he has to blame the Democrats.

To their credit, though, it does seem like every other Republican involved in the process knows that this is not the Democrat's fault, and that they need to fix this quickly or it will scuttle their agenda.

I for one suspect they will be able to pass some kind of tax cuts, but any bill about infrastructure spending is doomed. If they can't pass tax reform, then they are completely screwed.

ObamaCare is succeeding in all four of its primary goals:

1] Destroy the <---2008 Health Insurance and Care system which hundreds of millions of American used and relied upon for decades... because it was in the way!

2] Give better health care to illegal immigrants and transgenerational welfare receptiants, than recieved by the average, WORKING, Middle class American!

3] Preventing the creation of any NEW and functional health care system, based on the <----2008 type of concepts, from being re-implemented!

4] ObamaCare is going bankrupt, and about to completely collapse and leave 100s of Millions of Americans with no health care at all... as it was always designed to do!


ObamaCare is NOT, and never was designed to be a functional, working, health care or health insurance system!

ObamaCare is and has always been a form of Political and Governmental Sabotage!

ObamaCare is and always has been a WRECKING BALL!

ObamaCare is about destroyed what worked pretty well for most Americans, to make a Government Controlled Single Payer System the ONLY OPTION!

What you should place the blame on is the bill you guys hastily threw together. That's why even people on the Republican side didn't support this bill. The GOP has been trying to repeal Obamacare for 7 ****ing years. And when they finally get the chance to do just that, they can't even get it done. Man, they must have been twiddling their thumbs for all that time.

The (ACA) was also hastily put together and then added to once voted on. Anyone that is honest and was involved with the ACA writing will tell you it was never intended for longevity.

That legislation was designed to fail to bring in universal healthcare knowing the pain once it imploded.

This is the perfect distillation of this issue from the GOP side.

Rhetorical whining not based in any reality ('Obamacare is going bankrupt' WTF?) with an absolute insistence that Obamacare is a 'disaster', yet with absoultely no alternative plan that would be acceptable to most people.

I find it funny for people to be pining about the loss of the great healthcare system we had before 2008 - which was one of the worst systems in the developed world - and thinking that we can go back to the healthcare system of the 1950's, where the solution for most things was to give some belladonna extract and tell you to cut back your smoking to a pack a day.

The Dems spent great political capital to pass Obamacare over great GOP resistance, Obamacare actually is not in any sort of melodramatic "death spiral", and Trump/GOP didn't even try to negotiate with them. So what "fault or wrong" are the Dems answerable for? (It's not like Trump offered an updated version of an old Dem plan but the Dems opposed it just because Trump was the one to present it; if that sounds familiar, it's because it's what happened 8 years ago, with roles reversed)

If the GOP plan is so bad that 33 GOPers openly resist it in the face of Trump's threats/demands, then it quite obviously was a ****ing terrible bill.

I was simply commenting on the accuracy of President Trumps statement.

I'm not sure how to respond to your claim that Obamacare is not in a death spiral. It is. Every objective analysis shows it is failing, and costs are increasing dramatically, with many of the promises used to sell it to the public laying in pieces on the floor.

It remains to be seen what will be attempted in the future. Until then, the public will have to continue to struggle with the reality of the mess the Democrats created for them.
