While Ryan seemed to take responsibility for the lack of votes, and not "pass the buck", the same cannot be said for our POTUS.

After blaming the Dems for his failure, Trump actually said in an interview that he has only been in office for 64 days and he never said that he would repeal and replace in that time frame. Now, did he not say that "repeal and replace" was a day ONE objective? He went on to say that he will just let Dems come to him AFTER ObamaCare explodes. What a fuxing joke Trump has turned out to be.

My hats off to Paul Ryan for standing up, while Trump proves again that he is void of class and character. He is truly a national embarrassment.

I think what we just witnessed was the GOP exploding.

The AHCA was Ryan's baby...and I hope he finally did a learn a lesson...that the people really don't want his POS healthcare bill.

Does not change the fact this is a major defeat for him.

Trump is an immature buffoon. Thankfully, even people who were foolish enough to vote for him are quickly coming to that difficult realization.

If Trump were to credit who is truly responsible for his behavior, he might incriminate himself.

It is not Trump's duty to write legislation. Ryan taking the blame because nobody else was responsible for this catastrophe. Ryan had 7 years to write the bill and failed.

No they're not.

If folks would quit making excuses for Trump's failures, he might learn something from his mistakes. He put his full weight behind a bad piece of legislation and got beat.

No, he said he'd repeal and replace it with something hugely great, cheaper, and cover more people. He failed at that.
The fact that the GOP and Ryan also have a laundry list of failures they can take credit for, is interesting but irrelevant to Trump's failure.

How is it Trump's responsibility to write legislation? I keep asking this and nobody answers. If the votes weren't there in Congress then it's Congress' fault. Now if the bill reached Trump's desk and for some reason it sat there for 10 days triggering a pocket veto, then yes you could say Trump failed. That's not what happened here. Please control your TDS.

So he took responsibility for it failing to pass, big deal. I'd applaud him only for taking responsibility for trying to ram thru a bill that would have been devastating to tens of millions. THAT is what he should beg forgiveness for, not that it failed to pass, which is a good thing

This entire debacle has been so delicious to behold, but it's important to keep in mind the villains. Ryan cannot be trusted with governing even a small hamlet in the pacific islands

I doubt it since his businesses have gone bankrupt how many times and still has a big enough ego to fill the hoover dam and re-carve mount rushmore with his face only

Everyone he's ever known, and now 1/5 of the country has *enabled* this. He's never been told no in his life probably. He doesn't need others to make excuses at this point, just fingers in ears and gather more yes-men and he's set until he's out of there

Who here claimed that it was Trump's responsibility to write legislation?
*crickets*. You keep asking a strawman, no wonder no one is answer you...no one claimed it. The relationship is like this:

No one claims it, you wonder why no one answers.
Trump failed miserably at his stated goal, you wonder why everyone is blaming him.
Is that a pattern I see?

Back in reality, Trump claimed over and over and over that he would repeal and replace obamacare and his plan would be so good you'd be tired of how good it is.
And when he was granted the authority by his voters, with both houses of congress in the same party he was elected form, he failed miserably.
He failed to lead.
He made the CHOICE to outsource this to Ryan, and that failed.

What's worse, that the Republicans after 7 years of hating on Obamacare, failed to have a ****ign clue up their collective asses on how to deal with it?
Or that according to Spicer, after Trump worked his 24k gold plated fingers to the bone on helping pass this legislation, after "leaving it all on the field", after pulling out all the stops...HE FAILED.
Take your pick, I'll take both thank you.

It's Obama's fault.

Oops, sorry, 8 years of conditioning.

Trump didn't fail because Trump is not a member of Congress. Trump played a supporting role. That's like blaming the custodians for Sears going out of business. This was Paul Ryan's turd sandwich. He was working on it for 7 years. Trump is the president. He has been in office for two months.

Dream on. This was Trump's effort to brag about fulfilling a campaign promise. Had the p.o.s bill passed, he would have tried to take full credit for it. Once the "brain dead" supporters stop making excuses for what is obviously a "joke" of a POTUS, maybe he might learn how to govern.

The executives signs bills into law. Of course Trump would take full credit if the bill passed. The GOP has been dithering on "Repeal & Replace" and he held their feet to the fire and made them do their jobs. That they did their jobs poorly is not Trump's fault.

The Republicans are reaping what they sewed. There are still a few issues that unite them: abortion, god, guns, Muslims, Military, Liberals; but the splintering has begun in earnest. They are certainly not united in governance.

Hey, when John Boehner is too far Left for half the people making up your party, it might be time to evaluate just what it is your party really stands for...other than hating Muslims, abortion and liberals while having an unhealthy love affair with god, guns and the military.

Not if DP threads are any indicator.

Ryan seems to be under the impression that politics did not change dramatically with Donald Trump. He didn't have the courage to blame the democrats and claim the CBO numbers were fake news. I don't give Ryan props. The bill he proposed was disgusting, and he has proven to not only be dumb on policy but now dumb on politics. He's absolutely worthless.
