Maneuvers this week by Rep. Nunes (R) continue to cause a huge reaction.

What does Nunes want to keep the Public from finding out?

Does moving the Hearings behind closed doors benefit Team Trump or does it continue to cloud Team Trump's agenda moving forward?
I don't think it makes a difference.

The committee is compromised either way. They need to appoint a special prosecutor.

Did you watch any of the hearing with the FBI director and the NSA director? They continually said they couldn't answer the questions asked in an open hearing, and would only be able answer the majority of the questions during a classified closed door hearing.

That would probably be 99.9% of the real reasons why.

I spent hours watching Comey and Rogers answer questions from the Committee. I found the process informative. I support as high a level of transparency as possible. I believe Nunes has displayed fragrant partisanship.

Transparency is useful. However, when dealing with issues of national security and/or subjects under investigation, closed meetings are required.

Fragrant or flagrant? Unintended funny pun?

Nunes got pissed off when he saw the partisan BS and FELONY actions of someone or numerous people the previous administration made when they unmasked and then disseminated those names and their conversations of the Trump team in violation of the 4th Amendment. He wrongly didn't follow procedure and he made mistakes that a person as pissed off as he understandably was would make. That's not partisan, it's human nature.

Yeah, and I don't blame Nunes one bit. Trump is the target. I would've taken the information to him first too, because the very first action by those on the left on the intelligence committee would be to run to the microphones and cameras in an attempt to discount it. And I would've apologized profusely afterward exactly as he did. Good show, Nunes.

Nunes going to the White Hosue while he is supposed to be the chairman of an independent investigation calls into not only his intentions but also his ability to do his job in this instance. His actions calls into question his ability to properly do his job.

I like both your points. The first one on my using the wrong word... oops. "Fragrant" generally has a positive spin. Maybe deep down I like Nunes?

On to your 2nd point, Nunes very well may have acted in anger. Placid, bipartisan, and cooperative does not describe the State of Affairs in Congress this week.

Progressive thinks Republican that is saying things damaging to the left is partisan, film at 11!

There's nothing bipartisan about Washington at all at this point. However, that means they can't do much to harm us if they're stuck in park with the brakes on.

I tend to routinely defer to your judgment.. and have previously referred to you as Professor Visbek. I also admire the public posturing of Adam Schiff. It seemed to me he has called for continuing the hearings in the public domain.

If you ever note similarities between my debate style with Gaugingcatenate, please immediately bring it to my attention.. and give me a chance to remove myself from further ridicule.

Welcome back! We Progressives do not all think alike. Some of us actually have disdain and dislike for each other.... and not just Republicans. I have some very close Republican friends.

Nunes violated Committee protocol. He had his reasons. He apologized.

I own up to my non-ambiguous Left of Center bias. At least those who disagree with me can rest assured I have very little influence on affecting policy decisions. I merely spout off my opinions, then react to the decisions made by those with true power. All smiles!

It has already been stated that the reason being that none of the actual issues can be addressed in an open hearing. Also, as we've become familiar with, representatives have used these public hearings to grandstand and sell their brand, preening like a peacock, instead of actually investigating. Finally, I'm also inherently distrustful of things being above-board in a closed door session but I see no way around it.

The only thing I can somewhat rely on is there being present those who obviously stand at opposite ends of the spectrum, which means that their antagonistic nature should cancel each other out (i.e. if there is actually a smoking gun Schiff will make sure something happens).

Yes, we should be a socialist communist country where 99% of the people are equals and the true 1% live in luxury.

I type with two hands. The 'l' and 'r' lie far apart. I've asked myself did I make a Freudian mistake? Does Nunes remind me of flowers in bloom? Thank God gayness has become more acceptable!
