America is no longer a democracy — never mind the democratic republic envisioned by Founding Fathers.
Rather, it has taken a turn down elitist lane and become a country led by a small dominant class comprised of powerful members who exert total control over the general population — an oligarchy, said a new study jointly conducted by Princeton and Northwestern universities.
One finding in the study: The U.S. government now represents the rich and powerful, not the average citizen, United Press International reported.
America is an oligarchy, not a democracy or republic, university study finds - Washington Times

R.I.P.

I'll go a step further...the U.S. government doesn't represent the "rich and powerful." The U.S. government IS the "rich and powerful."

There is only one single motivation that drives any politician in government...votes. If piking babies onto spears guaranteed votes, infant mortality rates would climb to 99%.

Curious as to who's going to snort at it being the Washington Times here.

There is still a chance here.

Trump has the Oligarchs in a tizzy because they know they can't control him.

He's a little crazy, but the alternative may be crazier.

Anyhow, I'm enjoying watching the war.

It's just reporting a study, which anyone can read directly. Which news organization is reporting it is inconsequential, except that stating the conclusions of the report would be questionable if it were a partisan website like Breitbart and The Daily Caller. Readers of such partisan websites see what they want to see and almost never consult the original study to check the truthfulness of the partisan site, because it says what they want it to say. I have personally read articles on such sites that are totally false.

A legitimate news organization may slant, but it doesn't misstate the conclusions of reports.

This is why I try to cite the actual report. If people can't dispute the findings, they'll attack the source in order to derail an opposing point of view. And even there, I've seen folks do an almost CSI forensic style deep dive into who paid for the report in order to derail it...lol... It's amazing how far people will go to avoid facing uncomfortable facts. Especially in cases like this, where doing so is in direct contradiction to their best interest.

Oh well, lemmings will be lemmings........................................... :slapme:

I agree with you. But many around here reflexively deride anything that comes from the Washington Times. Just wondering if they'll do so here. They haven't. I wonder why that might be.
