There are a lot of Irish illegal immigrants here. Who knew? They didn't walk across any border or stow away on a ship. They usually came in on a visa, and stayed.

Consider, also, that Ireland has a higher standard of living than America and lower unemployment, and it makes this a head scratcher. One person in the article surmises that they come from areas of Ireland without many jobs. Another person says that that's why Ireland may have low unemployment; the unemployed came here.

There are no Irish immigrants where I live, so I had no idea.

CNN sensationalism...again.

If illegal immigration from the south was only 50,000 nobody would be complaining either. We don't know how many illegals are here but the number 12,000,000 gets thrown around a lot. 50,000 is less than half of one percent of that figure.

All that being said, folks might notice that Trump's immigration plan doesn't say "Get rid of the Mexicans". It says "Get rid of the illegal aliens".

You view illegal immigration of the Irish as sensational? Interesting.

You apparently feel threatened by that article for some reason. Go figure.

Sounds like a big problem. We should Ireland to the ban list. I know a lot of people of Irish decent and they are normally of questionable moral fiber.

50,000 fewer Irish would probably make our highways safer on St. Patricks Day, so send em back.

What is sensationalist about that article? It even says they make up a very small percentage.

Yeah, so?

The idea that they aren't talked about because they're white is sensationalist. The reason they aren't talked about is because there are so few of them and it isn't a growing problem.

Yeah...and I thought it was an interesting factoid. But paranoia reigns in rightwingnut world.

It's interesting, to me, because the Irish have been so important in our history. Millions came over during the famine, of course, but many came before then. I also thought it was interesting because I didn't realize that any of the Irish here would be illegal, that they would CHOOSE to come here illegally, because I thought Ireland was such a cool country.

But if they are here illegally, they really are taking jobs that would go to Americans, if they weren't here. Then again, there aren't many of them. And none where I live, that I know of. But I might care if they held jobs here that I would want.

I love the Irish. Don't know why. I love the music, pictures of the country, the Irish tenacity. "The fighting Irish." But bear in mind, they can be violent terrorists, too. The IRA wasn't a walk through the park. They killed a lot of innocent people, including children.

there are TOO MANY UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES of laws passed by The US Congress

Congress passes laws; great BUT WhoTF enforces these laws? NO f***ing body ...........

Just look at H1Bs .......... when they passed that crap in the early 1990s during the Bush I era, these Congressional a**hats said it was all good, then employers started abusing the programs, getting foreign labor in the country, FORCING Americans workers to TRAIN their FORIEGN replacements & then folks that had been in the workplace were f***ed.

The US Congress is a f***ing joke; they have been a f***ing joke for about 100 years ...............

It's the risk you take by being here illegally. The ones that have been here for years, why haven't they pursued citizenship? That's one thing I don't understand.

This is not relevant.

I personally make no distinction based on race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, etc.

Nor should government immigration enforcement.

You are either a legal immigrant or you are not. If not...out you go. Period!

I think someone in the article says there is no path to citizenship, if you are here illegally. You have to go back. Unless, I guess, you marry an American.

Actually the Irish president or whatever mentioned them in his comments alongside POTUS on Thursday. Ya can't blame CNN for that.

If I could talk my wife into it we'd apply for resident visas and leave for Ireland soonest.

And what does that have to do with the implication that nobody talks about them because they're white?

What has that do with what I posted?
