Should we require helth insurance to cover maternity care?

why should a single guy have to pay for maternity care? it makes 0 sense.

Why should a woman pay for some random guy's prostate?

Which is why the American Health insurance system is so stupid. I'm always amazed that so many Americans don't see this. Do away with insurance coverage, deductables, employer contributions, etc and just have a single payer system paid through general taxation. So much simpler and cheaper.

My premium is over $950/month, because I'm over 60. I am forced to pay for maternity coverage and inpatient care for drug rehab and mental issues. I will never use those things, obviously, and am in effect paying the bill for others to use those coverages. Some of those other people have more money than I do, to boot.

Mine is about the same, though, that has nothing to do with my age in my case. But there is no reason for a policy to be allowed to be age dependent or for persons to be insured for things they don't require.
