Thanks, Don. Spending our money on dumb **** should have been your campaign theme.

Trump Budget Makes It Official: You're Paying For The Wall, Not Mexico | The Huffington Post

...the Trump budget proposals revealed late Wednesday include $4.1 billion for the wall. Reuters reported that Trump was asking for $1.5 billion for the current fiscal year and another $2.6 billion for the 2018 budget year, which begins Oct. 1.

The money will come from U.S. taxpayers and not Mexico, which has made it clear that it’s not paying for the wall.

So now we levy a border protection tax on imports from Mexico. Easy. ;)

We'll see.

I suspect that won't come to pass either.

And, I doubt the wall ever gets finished. But, someone will certainly figure out how to spend that $4.1 B right quick.

$4.1 billion? That won't be enough. Estimates say it will cost around $22-25 billion to build, and that doesn't include staffing and maintenance costs.

Yeah, that won't jack up the costs of good to Americans. Make us pay for that wall twice, lol.

That's exactly why this tariff nonsense will never pass to become law.

Mexico is already paying for the wall.

Many thousands of jobs have already been held in the U.S. that were set to go to Mexico........high paying jobs.

Illegals have been fleeing back to Mexico in fear and in large numbers.......meaning they're NOT sending millions in U.S. Greenbacks home to mom and dad.

These are huge losses for Mexico and huge gains for the U.S. and they're going to continue to increase.

Mexico is paying for the wall even if Mexico and the Democrats don't want to admit it.

It must not have been much of a problem if it can be fixed simply by talking about a wall.

And the tax is added to the cost of goods, so Americans still pay for it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm shocked to find this out. I believed him. I mean, he's The Donald. He can make anyone do anything.

What he can do is make people believe

Imagination land is the best land. If everyone believes then it must be real.

Well, they are paying one way or another right now. Personally, I think it would have been smart to make them pay a fine and legalized the illegal immigrants 8 years ago. But it appears that there is a lot of anger in the US now about the illegal immigration and that is costly. It got us Trump.

They will build a robust fence like the one the Spaniards erected in North Africa or the Hungarians have, I suspect.

Yes, that was a big reason. Your fine idea isn't a bad one, but it wouldn't float with the 'round 'em up and throw 'em out' crowd.

The "wall" was an effective symbol for Trump. Reality tends to ignore symbolism.

And an ugly symbol at that.

IMO, we could have long ago stopped the flow of illegals by consistently punishing those who hired them. But, that was not in the cards. Instead we ignored the real culprits of the problem and blamed the symptom.

Drugs are much the same. We ignore the culprit: the consumer; to focus on the symptom: the supplier. We never learn.

History has shown us that every so often, a figure emerges with this ability. History has also shown us the tragic results of placing such blind trust in leaders that are incorrectly given "godly" like status. Trump certainly enjoys this admiration with a very small minority. Hopefully, this won't last.

I would also go after the hiring side first.

However, maybe an analogy with the drug war is helpful. That is a complete failure. Like prohibition, it's useless and just invites the government to create and jail a new class of criminals. Maybe it's better to just recast the paradigm and stop dealing with a black and white version? I don't know - thinking aloud - haven't had enough coffee yet, lol.

Maybe you can console that crowd by beating them before throwing them out? Maybe in public?
