OK, I am convinced. Elect a girlie man to be your leader, and suddenly the whole country goes ***** willow. What the hell?

I thought this was a joke when I first saw it in my Twitter feed.

The outrage erupted after Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, replaced a scale in its gym with a sign asking exercisers to focus on health metrics other than weight.

“We don’t believe being fixated on weight has any positive effect on your health and well-being,” Bruce Marshall, manager of wellness programs at Carleton, told the campus newspaper, the Charlatan. “The body is an amazing machine and even when we are dieting and training it will often find a homeostasis at a certain weight.”

Marshall told Canadian Broadcasting Corp. the decision was not based on complaints but was “in keeping with current fitness and social trends.”

First, if you are removing the scales because they are a bad metric, why back off when you get heat for removing the scales? And, second, if you are removing them because of snowflakes being triggered, maybe you should just own it and say, "We have a bunch of ***** Willows in this country, and they need to be protected from the evils of the weight scale."

It's not a joke, it's a fraud. A number of “news” organisations have taking a minor little event and spun it up in to something they can make money from. You’ve either fallen for the con or are an willing propagator.

They haven’t backed off. They made a decision but are listening to feedback (real, local feedback, not the tabloid spin I hope). That’s what normal civilised organisations do.

They didn’t. The worded “triggered” appears to have come up in a single quote that may well have been made up as part of the tabloid spin. It had literally nothing to do with the real stated reasons for the change by the University.

Incidentally, ***** Willow is a kind of tree. Maybe you should own up to what you really mean and just say it. :cool:

Removing scales was a silly decision, what they're saying about using weight as a sole metric of health is true
 
Be careful up north. *****-willows have been know to carry homeostasis!
