MSNBC has a Trump tax return that was obtained

Think outside of the box my friend.....:) If you were anti-Trump, you would leak much more information than what was obtained. If you were pro-Trump, and wanted to create a diversion, you might consider leaking two pages of tax info that wasn't damaging....:)

I agree. I notice that the stamp on page two said CLIENT COPY.

Now who would that client be?

That all sounds great until you consider that Rachael Maddow is about as anti-Trump as you can get and just took those two pages, hyped them up, and then delivered a dud.

What was she thinking she was going to accomplish? Ratings at the expense of her credibility?

I agree that there was nothing there, but somebody released them for a reason.

Que the "Trump did it himself!" chants in 5, 4, 3...

Wouldn't be a bad move on his part given his other ongoing issues. That said, it isn't like Trump hasn't done this sort of thing in the past. There was a Donald Trump "history" of odd behavior long before he ever entered the world of politics.

Now, Trump can clear all of this up very easily.........:)

Maybe not in Progressiveville, but in the rest of the United States it is a crime to possess stolen property, and it's called "Possession of Stolen Property." Also, it's a crime to knowingly disclose information covered by the Privacy Act of 1974. As well as it's illegal to disclose a person's tax return without their permission - 26 U.S. Code § 6103 - Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information.

But hey, it's okay because it's Trump, and we all hate him, so screw the law.

How do we know it was stolen?

Actually, the White House DID release Trump's 2005 tax return before Maddow could do it, when they heard she was going to do it. AND... he paid $38 MILLION in federal taxes that year.

Kinda takes the hot air out of the fart filled balloon that Maddow and her ilk were hoping for. The NYT is reporting he took $100 million in write offs that year also, but they can't get around the fact that he paid $38 MILLION in federal taxes in 2005.

Sure he could.;)

I have no doubt that if he were to just release his returns the left would be completely satisfied and drop the crusade against him.

How do we know it was stolen?

Because it was obtained by a reporter, without Trump's consent. That means it was stolen from either the government, or from Trump or his accountants or someone else that had approval to keep them secure. Even if the person that gave them to the reporter was a government employee or an employee of Trump, if Trump didn't approve the disclosure then they were stolen.

If you have something that isn't yours, and the person that owns that thing didn't give it to you or to the person that took it from them, then you are in possession of stolen property. If you're the one that took it, then you are both a thief, and in possession of stolen property.

There are many folks other than the "left" who would like to see transparency. If Trump doesn't have anything to hide, he should simply release them.

I saw that earlier but the left will be going for an "it's all part of the Trump master plan" angle.

I am convinced that there is nothing short of stepping down that will stop the left from trying to scheme some way of forcing him to do just that.

The documents were placed in a mailbox by person or persons unknown. You have no way of knowing that it wasn't approved by Trump. As such, it certainly wouldn't be a stolen property issue. Simply put, we don't know who gave them to a reporter and why.

Or... he could just wait for someone to leak them. Which may be exactly what his game is at this point.

trump has been known to do his own leaking, especially to deflect from the rest of his incompetence and corruption .

And I am equally convinced that no amount of evidence would ever convince his "hard-core" supporters that he may not be as great of a person as he would have them believe. I guess "hero-worship" is a concept that I simply cannot grasp.

If you don't have anything to hide, you should allow the police and the local TV news and newspaper to come to your home and go through all your stuff, including your records.

The claim of "if you have nothing to hide, then what's the problem" has echoed through time by every single tyrant that oppressed and/or slaughtered his people. I'm sure Kim Jong Un is saying that as we speak to some North Korean that is about to be accused of a crime that will end in their execution.

And before you say that it's different because he's the President, neither you nor I have any reasonable right to know about Trump's private business. Nor do his family's and company's business competitors.

I don't like the guy, but unlike those that want his taxes revealed, I don't wish him or his family or his company harm either. Disclosing his taxes could very well cause harm to his company and/or his family.

You can tell by their naivety that most of the Trump supporters had never followed Trump prior to his decision to enter the world of politics. Trump did this very same stuff back in the 70's and 80's for publicity purposes. At one point, he even created his own fake PR firm..........:)

So, if someone placed your info in my mailbox and since I would not no IF u approved it or not....I could post that info all over the internet etc

Wrong. As long as Trump says he didn't approve the disclosure, and as long as there no proof to the contrary, the documents are considered stolen.

I don't have to prove who stole my car. That's the job of the police.

EDIT: PS, I appreciate your polite debating this topic, and I wanted you to know that.

You seem to be under the impression that a person can both not "worship" Trump and at the same time, not believe everything that is said about him by people who have publicly vowed to bring him down by any and all means necessary.

Please enlighten me as to how releasing his taxes would harm his family.

You do realize that after the Nixon/Agnew tax fiasco, his returns will go through an IRS audit next year.
